The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Good morning

Rain again today.  Not a problem for staying in.

I hope to get the hand rails and grabs on the U23B's today. I was going to do it last night and I decided it might be easier to paint them first. They should be dry by noon.

     Best wishes to all.

Good evening folks

The new job assignment has been crazy. We have to do three full site inspections this week due to the rain. We need to inspect the basins, ditches, pipe outlets, and slopes for erosion and problems anytime there is more than 0.25 inches of rain in the rain gauge over a 24-hour period. On a four-mile-long widening project along the PA Turnpike there is a lot to inspect. One bad thing that has been happening is the office drama which reminds me of why I retired back in 2019. There are two many “troublemakers” on this project who love to stir the pot and see what happens. There are also several who practice one upmanship constantly. I have been speaking with the home office and they are trying to do something but it is difficult because the jerks are with other consulting firms. They are looking to transfer a few folks out of the situation and since I am too old for this petty drama I may take them up on the offer.

Even though the temperatures may be below normal this weekend will involve gardening. We have some mulching to do around the fishpond and add some plants. I also have to pull the filter and clean it. We need to move some Hosta that is growing out of control and move it to another location. There are also some bushes that need to be trimmed. On the gazebo I need to finish hooking up the lights and hang the mosquito curtains. We need to run to the post office to drop off some items my wife sold, the pharmacy, and the grocery store. I need to run up to local hardware and get the propane tank refilled so we can do some grilling this weekend.

I am hoping to run some trains over the long weekend. I would like to get back to doing some scenery mainly around the Golden Valley Canning Company. I would like to start working on the Trade Tower kit and perhaps assemble some rolling stock kits. I am beginning to get an itching to weather some rolling stock.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Good evening.

It is almost Saturday and it is cold for this time of year. The day started with rain but it cleared around noon and we even saw the sun for a while.

I got a few minutes in the train room so it was enjoyable. I got the grab irons on 2 U25B's and the hand rails etc on one of them. It should be easy to finish them tomorrow.

My wife is really improving which makes me feel a lot better. It is getting easier to care for her because she is able to do a lot of things we take for granted. I too am doing better, mainly because I have to, and also getting off of some of the medications.

     Happy week end.

Happy Memorial Day, gang.

Clear skies, light breezes, and 49 to start the day. Maybe the upper 60s and rain later on. No warming until at least Thursday.

Had a wonderful weekend at my great-granddaughter's high school graduation. She starts pre-med at Nebraska in the fall. Watched a rather boring F1 race yesterday. Otherwise a pretty quiet day. Lots to do today. Grocery run first. Then mow the yard and maybe put down some weed killer..

Gas has dropped to $2.96 from a high last Thursday of $3.19.

All stay safe.

Memorial Day. 2025
Hello Blue
Not sure when I last checked in, not that much going on. We had a grilling yesterday with the oldest son. The other two kids are out of town.
They bumped gas 30 cents for the holiday @ $3.19.
Sun this morning, might tap 70 by late afternoon.

Memorial Day 2025.
Let us never forget.

Yesterday I saw a movie I'd heard of all my life, finally got to see it in a movie palace with a mighty Wurlitzer organ.
"Wings".

Produced when the Great War was still fresh in people's minds.

Good evening folks

I had to take off work a little early today. The wife and I had to visit the optometrist. All went well with the visit and we should have our new glasses in two weeks.

We started the weekend with running our errands to the Post Office and Kohl’s for returns, and CVS as the wife needed to pick up a few things. The rest of the weekend was dominated with gardening. We mulched under the Japanese maple tree at the fishpond. I removed three clumps of Hosta that was growing out of control. It took Sunday and Monday to remove them.

We had to deal with a couple of leaking pipes. One is the soil pipe from the upstairs bathroom. Of course, it is behind the living room wall that was just repainted 6 months ago. The second pipe has become a mystery. We had water in the basement on Saturday. It was in an area that usually gets wet from heavy storms. We have not had any of those types of storms. We thought we traced the problem to a specific pipe, but everything has dried up and we have tested the pipe in question several times and now cannot see a leak.

I did get to run some trains. I made a couple of videos of the train runs.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Greetings, gang

Still cloudy after a day of drizzle and cold yesterday. 55 now going to maybe the mid 60s later. 70 tomorrow (or so they say). Then by Friday we go straight to summer with highs in the mid to upper 80s by next week.

Went to hopefully my last cold sporting event yesterday. Great-grandson had baseball games at 5:30 and 7. Very light drizzle occasionally with the temperature in the mid 50s. Tomorrow's games maybe in the upper 60s. Fingers crossed. Not much on tap for today other than a trip to the gym.

In other news the disposable cameras arrived for my great-granddaughter's graduation party next weekend. We're just going to set them around and let people take pictures. I also included an envelope with some money to cover developing.

All stay safe.

I guess no one is interested in old wood kits any more I haven't decided whether trash them or put them on eBay thought about building a few but wood doesn't last long here with the high temp. other than that things are about the same been working on layout some.

Greetings, gang.

58 and cloudy at the moment but it's supposed to be clearing off and get to about 80. Maybe the upper 80s on Sunday and Monday.

Interesting day yesterday. My desktop has been starting to make some noises so I decided to replace it. Went to Des Moines and picked up a new one with Windows 11. Been a real hassle trying to get everything set up. Still haven't figured out how to access my network attached storage. Then a couple of baseball games last evening so I didn't get home til after 9. Then for some reason I couldn't sleep well last night. Been up since 4. Today I need to make a grocery run a a trip to the gym.

Gas was down to $2.79 last night.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

It's a smoky 53 degrees in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Low 80s for the high.

Did some grocery shopping yesterday for essentials but most of the day was spent trying to figure out Windows 11. Not a big fan of it. Will spend more time today trying to wrestle it into something a little more to my preferences. This morning in addition to laundry I need to spend some time to clean up around the grave sites.

Eggs were $2.96 yesterday at Walmart and gas is holding steady at $2.79.

All stay safe.

Greeting, gang.

Another smoky morning outside my window. Currently 79 and maybe hit the mid 80s later. Possibly our first 90 degree day tomorrow. Humidity is slowly increasing ahead of thunderstorms tomorrow night and Tuesday.

Busy day yesterday. Laundry done, weed killer put down, a usb hub purchase for the new desktop, and continuing adventures on getting the new desktop set up the way I want it. I did discover that Windows does not play well with a wireless connection to a NAS. I know it used to but I can no longer connect from either my laptop or the new desktop. I'll have to pick up a usb to ethernet adapter for the new desktop. A royal pain in the $%^%^%%.

This morning I watched a rather mundane F1 race - until the last 6 laps. Then it got really exciting. Lots of position swaps and penalties handed out. After that I took a 12 mile bike ride. Nothing else scheduled for the remainder of today.

Gas was down to$2.74 this morning.

All stay safe.
