Busy couple of days. My youngest was playing golf yesterday and looking for a fourth, so I got to show the young pups a thing or two... We then went out to dinner with my wife to celebrate 33 years of wedded bliss.

Took the dog to the park for some rehab hiking - he's got two more weeks of "on leash" walking before he can be released to run again. It's pretty amazing what the vets have decided to do with blown out knees in dogs - they basically re-engineer the joint. Ain't cheap though...

Moved some plants in the heat of the afternoon and cut most of the grass after getting gas for the mower and some Plaster of Paris. By dinner time I was pretty shot, so poured some more rocks - might be the last I cast for a while.

Back to the salt mines tomorrow, which will be 1216 days until my anticipated retirement.

Greetings, gang.

Partly cloudy and 75 at the moment after a very brief shower.  Headed for the upper 80s with an 80% chance of rain.  Similar chances for rain now through Wednesday night.

Went out before 6 AM yesterday for a bike ride.  The wind had died down to about 15 mph so it wasn't too bad.  Headed out here shortly before the wind picks up again.  Baseball again every weekday now through next Wednesday depending on the rain.

Tmo - congrats on 33.  Here's to another 33. Cheers

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and soggy this morning. Some light showers and 99% humidity. 70 degrees going to the low 80s.

Lots of running around lately. Monday I drove a half hour west for a baseball game. Got home from there and drove an hour south to pick up my new glasses. Late yesterday afternoon i went to dinner with some friends to a place we like that's about an hour south of here. This morning I'm going to Des Moines to meet my sister-in-law and her husband for lunch. Tomorrow evening I'm going to baseball games in tow different towns. One at 5:30 for about an hour and then 10 minutes west of there for another game. Probably home by about 8:30 or 9. Then Friday I head about 45 minutes west for yet another game. 3 days of games next week then the season is over. Just glad I have a car that gets decent gas mileage,

Speaking of which, gas is down to $2.88.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Still very humid and with cooler temperatures it seems even colder. Currently 61 degrees with a scheduled high in the mid 80s with clearing skies.

Wednesday trip to meet sister-in-law was fun. Got home and my daughter stopped by. Yesterday's games got rained out. Just one game today about 45 minutes west of here. Not much else planned for the weekend.

Gas down a little more to $2.84.

All stay safe.

Weekend has begun. Big temperature/humidity swing here after a front came through last night. From 90's and high humidity to 70's but with light drizzle. While it was drizzling last night, my wife decided to get her chest pains that she's been having over the last three days checked out, so we ended up spending 6 hours in the emergency room (9:30 PM to 3:30 AM). After all that, nothing cardiovascular related (as I expected, but I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television). My schedule was completely thrown off though - after a shower at 4 AM didn't get out of bed until the dog complained at 9:30 AM.

Not a workday, so no impact to my leave balance. Took the dog for a hike and now I'm back contemplating going into the light drizzle to do some necessary weed control.

Spent some time on the phone with Home Depot. The double sink/countertop I ordered ended up damaged upon arrival at my local store with no available replacement. Ended up removing my backorder and was able to get something similar and they honored the price on the damaged one, so I guess my time on the phone was productive.

I also ordered a set of replacement wheels for the fronts of my zero turn through Amazon - got sick and tired of pumping up holey tires and opted for solids. Gonna affect my ride quality a bit, but at least I won't have the aggravation of weekly increases in pressure before cutting my hills. Those should be here sometime tomorrow.

My last gallon of asphalt crack filler showed up yesterday, but the wet pavement's going to delay that application.

Lunch and then weed until the arthritis drives me back inside.

Good afternoon

It's cloudy but so far the rain has missed us. We had 4 in a row over 90° with high humidity. I am on an air conditioned room and it is a comfortable 76°.

I haven't been out for 4 days so I have no idea what gas prices are.

I talked to Wayne Wednesday night and he sounded great and didn't have any memory lapses. We talked for over an hour. I have been reading that some people with dementia have been having good luck with a nicotine patch and I told him about that.  It would be a blessing if it helped him. They say it won't heal what has gone but it appears to slow down or stop the progression.  There are other holistic remedies but I keep that stuff to myself. I take several to combat my prostate cancer and I am still living so they may be working.. Wink

It took 4 days to mow grass this week because I did not want to be in the sun and heat for over 20 minutes. It doesn't look great but it will not be hard to do right when it coos down. I had heat stroke in August 1995 and a little heat goes a long way with me.

I made a few more hand rails for the C40-8w last night and started assembling one of the 3 Stewart C628 locomotives I am doing in LV livery. One will be red and 2 will be white elephants. They include a little piece of thin double back tape to hold the marker light plastic optics in place. I fumble for 20 minutes trying to get the paper off and finally just lined the pieces up and used CA to hold them in place. Tonight shoulde finist installing all but the hand rails on all 3 of them. I want to decal them before I do the rails.

Have a great week end everyone.

Charlie,

Yeah, those "White Elephants" were the "Snowbird" scheme and were completely different from anything else on the roster. Only four survived in that scheme all the way up to "Conrail Day 1", and they were brutally abused by the patchers (large black patches over the "LEHIGH VALLEY" and the red flag). I've always been tempted to create that look, but my fleet of C628's is already ridiculously large (although they are one of my favorite Alcos). Those clear light bars on the Stewarts are certainly a pain in the neck, but they are cool when you get some light into them and get all six of those circular lights above the road numbers lit up.

It's good to hear that you had a good conversation with Dr. Wayne and we'll keep crossing our fingers that he continues to have good days.
