When you're talking to people with memory problems, try going for their older memories.
In his last years, my father had trouble remembering what he'd had for lunch, or even if he'd had lunch. But he was quite willing to discuss the pros and cons of Oliver Cromwell. I think he forgot to do it, though.

Morning Blue....

Glad to here that everyone is doing well, including Wayne. Smile

Cut my tiny lawn last evening when it had cooled down. Supposed to be hot again today, we'll see.

Greetings, gang.

It's cloudy and 69 as I enter the last week of baseball for the great-grandkids. High is supposed to be in the mid 80s with a 20% chance of rain.

I took the weekend off from the world. The only time i left the house was Saturday morning to journey a mile up the road to fill the gas tank. the rest of the time was spent resting, relaxing, goofing off - and laundry.

Today I'll be heading about an hour west for a baseball game. if I can come up with enough energy I may head to the grocery store before then. Otherwise I'll wait til tomorrow. Tomorrow and Wednesday will see the end of baseball for this season. No more sporting events until football in the fall. Sometime after the 4th I plan to head est for a couple of days to visit the Illinois Railroad Museum. it's about 6 hours so I'll drive over in the afternoon and get a motle. Then visit the museum in the morning and head home.

Gas continues its decline. $2.75 this morning.

All stay safe.

Nice start of the day if you made it outdoors by 7 AM, but by noon, hot and humid again.

Saw the lightning and heard the thunder on the way home, grilled some chicken prior to the big downpour. Came down in buckets for about 30 minutes or so. Oddly enough, I'd planned on getting the hose and sprinkler out to water some transplanted spirea from the weekend, but that was completely unnecessary. Did a little more base scenery in the gorge.

Supposed to substitute in my golf league tomorrow, but the same weather is expected, so I don't expect that we'll play. Probably glue on my fingers instead while I add some shrubbery on top of the base layer.

Happy World UFO Day, gang.

68 in my back yard this morning under clear skies. According to the NWS it will be heating up for the next few days, including the low 90s for Friday.

It was a good thing I rested over the weekend. Baseball started at about 9:30 Monday and was almost continuous until about 8:30 last night. I was tired just watching the games. I expect the kids were exhausted. One more game tomorrow and the season is over except for tournaments which are out of town. I won't be attending those.

On tap for today are a number of projects. I need to mow the yard and take a bike ride. One project already underway is to charge my phone for the week. This evening I'll need to roll the trash can 30 feet out to the end of the driveway. Also need to take the SuperCruiser to Walmart for some sunscreen. Used up the last of it yesterday at the baseball games. Last project will be to pay the bills for the month. At this rate I'll need the three day weekend to recover!

Gas prices jumped from $2.73 to $2.99 yesterday. I'm certain it's purely coincidental that it occurred just before the approaching long weekend.

All stay safe.

I saw some lightning yesterday shooting across the sky in a storm. I was driving so I couldn't take pictures.
It was interesting, scary and beautiful, all at the same time.

There were a couple of downpours that we all had to slow down for, but nothing out of the ordinary for these parts

Greetings, gang.

Another sunny warm day underway in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. 70 already headed north of 90 for the next couple of days before returning to the mid 80s.

All chores accomplished yesterday so today is mostly a day of rest. One final baseball game around lunch time. Looks like no more sporting events until football starts in the fall. I do need to make some potato salad for tomorrow. Tomorrow morning I'll make some deviled eggs and my holiday feast will then be all set.

Gas price holding at $2.99 except for Walmart/Murphy Oil where it dropped a couple more pennies to $2.71.

All stay safe over the long holiday weekend.

We had a beautiful day here with moderate temperature and low humidity. The rain went south.  I did a few chores but my wife wants to do as much as she can and she is really starting to get back somewhat to normal. She did the laundry today and even washed the dishes and made a cheese cake.
I worked on my Lehigh Valley C628's. They were undecorated but I got a good buy on them. If I count my labor rate at 50 bucks an hour I only have a thousand bucks in each one  Icon_e_biggrin, but it keeps me out of the bars and away from the wild women....

Have a Happy Fourth.

Happy Fourth of July, gang.

75 already going to 90. Slightly cooler tomorrow with increasing chances for rain.

Yesterday was a goof off day after a busy week. I did get the potato salad made and watched the last baseball game of the season. My great-grandson's team did very well, finishing with a 15-2-1 result.

This morning I'll be heading out the door shortly for a bike ride. After that I need to run the edger around the sidewalk and clean up the grave site for my wife and son.

No change in gas prices with Walmart/Murphy oil holding at $2.71 while everyone else is at $2.99

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
We have bright sun with a temp going to 88. 90s for the weekend.
We will spend the evening with our 3 kids. Grillin and partaking of summertime vittles. They live close so just a short drive without travel time.
Fireworks are legal in Michigan on holidays so two of our grandsons will put on a great show. Of course they won't be the only ones, the entire neighborhood will be lit up. ........ stay safe, have fun.

Good evening, folks

The wife and I just got home from Longwood Gardens. It was a nice day the wife wanted to get out of the house, so we took a ride to Longwood. I have not been there in several years. They finished a big construction project last year and I will say I was impressed. The water gardens were well done. We primarily toured the new areas which were centered around the Conservatory. We did catch a fountain show.

Right now I am fighting with the TV in the living room. For some reason every so often it gets fickle and will not turn on. We have to unplug it and get it to reboot before it will work again.

After I finish with the TV I am going to head down to the layout. I have a new locomotive to test. It is a Broadway Limited B6sb 0-6-0 lettered for Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. Locomotives lettered for PRSL are rare and even rarer are steam locomotives.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Greetings, gang.

Rain! Looks like it's gong to rain most of the morning. Currently 72 with a scheduled high in the mid 80s. Cooler temperatures for the next several days. I'll be leaving the a/c on through the weekend as I have a feeling there will be people who will still be lighting off fireworks.

Routine day for me yesterday. 12 mile bike ride early followed by breakfast. After that I cleaned up the grave site for my wife and son. As long as I was in a cleaning mode I cleaned the door track on the lawn shed. Also set a trap for some creature that has dug a new home by the shed. Supper was picnic food without the heat, humidity, ants or other insects. Hot dogs, potato salad, pork and beans, and deviled eggs followed by ice cream for dessert.

Today is laundry and if the rain stops I want to lubricate the door tracks on the shed.

All stay safe.

It's hell getting old...

Express Care thinks I have a skin infection in my right foot. Nagging soreness, inflammation and swelling - I think the antibiotics are starting to work...

Wrenched my back out this morning while sitting on my lawn mower! With my hands on the controls I went to shift my butt back into the middle of the seat after a quick turn and that was enough. Still sore, but I'm hoping to avoid a trip to my chiropractor. The wife has banned me from further outside work for the rest of the day, so I may get a chance to work on some scenic details.

Dog got his final post-surgery release this week. He's now not on a leash and can wander our property unescorted with his surgically repaired knees.
