The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings, gang.

Some light clouds at the moment but it's supposed to clear off and get to the low to mid 80s. Similar temperatures are predicted for the upcoming week with lows in the low to mid 60s. Looks to be a very nice week weather-wise.

Speaking of weather I measured 3.5 inches of rain in my gauge yesterday. In spite of that i managed to get the car washed and ride the bike for 12 miles. Only plan for today is to watch the F1 race starting with the pre-race show which starts in about 10 minutes. Could be an interesting race with the top six cars all within a quarter of a second.

Oil companies were very generous overnight, dropping the price of gas a whole penny to $2.95.

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
For us it's a hot 90s today. Yesterday was the same.
We did the family 4th of July thing and have not ventured out since. Lowest gas price I saw was $2.99.
Some rain expected by evening.

A day of mostly rest, super ibuprofen and the antibiotics have me feeling a lot better.

Dog only wanted to do the short loop at the state park after I got home from church. It was a bit sticky this morning, so I didn't push it with a bad foot and back.

Spent a good deal of time in front of the computer working on some audio files converted from a YouTube concert and then doing some shrubbery work on the layout before cracking open a book. Only outside work consisted of spraying some poison ivy that has started to infest on of my landscape before hitting a few golf balls to check to see if my back was going to hold up for Tuesday's match. Back to the grind tomorrow. I think I got 7 cents off at 7-11, so gas was $3.01.

Greetings, gang.

Hazy and 64 with 98% humidity. High in the mid 80s. Similar weather all week with chances of rain off and on varying from 30% to 70%.

Yesterday was a pretty slack day. I watched a very entertaining F1 race in the morning. Only actual activity was lubricating the doors on the lawn shed. Today I need to do some grocery shopping and I plan to hit the gym. It's been a while since i was there. Now that baseball season is over I'll have lots more time to do nothing.

The big oil companies have been so generous lately. On Saturday they lowered prices by a whole penny followed by yesterday's almost excessively extravagant 2 cent decline.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Another typical Iowa summer day under way. Currently 66 with 93% humidity. High scheduled for today will be in the mid 80s. Slight chance for rain tonight.

Routine day yesterday. I did finally manage to get back to the gym. Decent workout but lots of work remains. After lunch I got the yard mowed and the sidewalk cleaned off. Then a quick trip to the grocery store to restock on Powerade.

This morning's agenda includes an extended bike ride. Going to try a new section of the bike trail that was opened last year. Should be around 16-17 miles round trip. I'll be doing that early before it gets too warm. After that will be a lot of sweating whilst I cool off.

The oil companies have decided they've made enough off the holiday travel as prices continue to decline. Down to $2.86

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
We have had sun & clouds today. Had rain overnight. Temp is 81. Storm cells sliding through mid-Michigan this afternoon will probably miss us.
Haven't done much. We have been staying close to home. Did venture out yesterday for a while, lowest gas I saw was $2.89.

Greetings, gang.

It's 67 under cloudy.soggy skies this morning. Had almost 3/4 inch of rain overnight. The NWS has said it's possible to get more rain through tomorrow night.

Rode a new bike trail yesterday and it was really pleasant. Not much of a physical challenge since there were no major hills but it was the longest ride of the season at just over 17 miles. Took me about an hour and a half. I'll be working to reduce that time as the summer progresses. In other news there is no other news. Trip to the gym is the only item on my agenda for today.

All stay safe.

Good evening folks

Over the last couple of weeks with all the storms that rolled through we have had some damage to repair. Our fence that separates the yard from the fishpond took a hit from the wind and one of the gate posts broke off at ground level. In addition, the arbor that spanned the walkway was knocked over. Luckily it suffered no damage, but I can’t put it back until the gate post is replaced. My wife ordered the gate post at Lowes so we will be picking it up tomorrow. I will need to paint it. I am hoping to get the old broken post out of the ground. Since I am working nights next week for a couple of days putting in the new post will have to wait until next weekend. We will need to make a run to the pharmacy and grocery store at some point over the weekend.

I am hoping to run some trains and make a video or two. I am thinking about my next project on the layout. I could work on the scenery around the Golden Valley Canning Co or the roadway and parking area at the coal dealer. I have track to weather and ballast. I also have a bunch of Accurail kits and structure kits to assemble.

At some point I need to start going through my railfan photos and organize and scan them.

I hope everybody has a good night.

Greetings, gang.

Hazy and cool at 60 degrees this morning. Supposed to get to the low 80s later.

It's been quiet around here. Only activities have been the routine stuff - gym, bike rides, laundry, etc. Looks like my next project will be to mow again. With all the rain the grass has been growing quite rapidly. Really not much else to talk about this morning.

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
For weather in Michigan, it's been hot and humid, lots of storms have rolled through lately.
No train news, club activity slows during the summer. Will do some errands tomorrow morning.

Howdy friends

Things are improving here on Wilderson. My wife is now able to take a shower by herself and has even done some cooking. She is still wobbly but very much improved. I too am gaining but not near as fast as she is.  I can still mow the grass and pick up groceries so the chores are getting done.

I discovered a trick for home fries (bake the taters in the microwave then cool under running water, peel, slice and fry) so we have been having some home fries with our eggs and choice of bacon or sausage.  We easily skip lunch so the calories are not building up.

I put a decoder in the last locomotive in the new old stock lot I bought from Ebay. It was a hard wire job but easy to do except................. the gear grease had turned to glue and the trucks were bound. I used LaBelle 102 to soften it and cleaned it out with a straight pin, paint brush and an exacto knife. It is a Riverossi C420 that will eventually be repainted for Lehigh and Hudson River.

Another of the Kiski fellows is not doing well. He sold his house and moved into one of those senior complexes and he told me he liked it pretty well.  They had meals that he could go too and all the other amenities and being a life long bachelor he was quite content but I got word last week that he had fallen in his bathroom and could not get up and it was 2 days before he was missed. this happened about 3 weeks ago and he was in the hospital for a week and now has some kind of infection and other health problems he didn't have before, though something may have contributed to the fall. I got to talk to him Thursday and he did not sound great.
