The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings, gang.

Clear and 61 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Headed for the low 80s again. Upper 60s for highs next week.

More progress yesterday. The walls are painted in the main part of the living room. This morning I'll be heading back to Menards to get trim paint and ceiling paint. that will make a total of 10 trips so far. In other news I went to my first cross-country track meet yesterday. That's something that was never in my dictionary prior to Wednesday when I got the text from my granddaughter. Interesting experience. Watched Nebraska's first football game of the season last night. I wasn't overly impressed but a win is a win.

The gouger gas station has relented and fallen in line with the rest of the town - $2.76

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

It's currently 60 degrees under clear skies again this morning. High near 80 again. Chances of rain from this afternoon through Tuesday varying for 20% to 40%.

The trim paint was applied yesterday and for a dark color applied over a white primer it certainly didn't cover very well. Had to apply a second coat. The tape all came down yesterday afternoon at the end of the day. This morning I'll be applying tape to the freshly painted trim and then applying the ceiling paint. Once that is done I'll start removing the carpeting and restoring the main part of the living room to its former state. Then it's on to the smaller second portion. Overall I should be finished with this project by the end of next week.

The gas companies are celebrating the long weekend by lowering price of their main product by an entire penny from yesterday. How generous!

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

The NWS is providing us with rain this morning and also providing light and sound to make sure we notice. 64 at the moment headed for the upper 70s later.

Long day yesterday. I did manage all items on the checklist. The ceiling is painted, although I wish I would have gone with a lighter color. The carpet has been removed from the corner where the tv sits. That was the only part of this project where I needed some assistance. The tv is too bulky to move by myself. The neighbor helped me move it top the dining room. Later we moved it back to the tv stand. In the meantime I had to make a trip to Menards for some quarter round. By the time the tv was back in place it was time to call it quits for the day.

Today I will be watching the F1 race followed by a whole lot of doing nothing.

Gas down another 2 cents to $2.73.

All stay safe.

Sun. We have reached the 50/70s time of year. Sad to see summer slipping away.
Family gathering today, nothing planned for tomorrow.

Happy Labor Day, gang.

61 under clear skies as we head into the day of rest. A slight chance of rain after yesterday's 1 inch downpour. Predicted high in the mid 70s.

Speaking of resting that was my project for yesterday. The closest I came to working was to walk out to the rain gauge and empty it. Today I need to touch up a couple of spots on the ceiling and then start removing the carpet from the main portion of the living room. If I have any energy left I'll start moving furniture from the gaming area and taping the crown molding.

Gas is continuing to drop. Down to $2.71 this morning.

All stay safe.

Happy anniversary, Jim. My kids are planning a party for my 80th next year. I need to call this morning to reserve the location and to find a caterer. Just unreal! They're throwing the party and I get to pay for it. Nothing ever changes when you have kids.

Greetings, gang.

63 this morning after a very brief sprinkle which was accompanied by some thunder and lightning. Looks like that will be the high for today as the wind shifts to the north and increases to the mid 20s.

Started the other half of the living room yesterday. It's surprising how long it takes to move a desk and a credenza. Between that and making a grocery run I didn't get to apply primer until after lunch. Had to stop early to get cleaned up for a cross country track meet for one of the great-grandsons. He has several others but they are all out of town. Attendance at those will be spur of the moment. Also football starts soon for the middle school. Summer is definitely over and the school year has begun.

Big project for today will be painting the ceiling and walls. I want to get those done early so I can apply tape after lunch and paint the crown molding. After that is done the carpeting will be taken out and quarter round applied as necessary. From what I've seen so far it looks like I will be able to use pre-made quarter round rather than have to make my own. Then it will finally be time to start putting the new area rugs in place and restoring all the furniture to its rightful place. Also need to order curtains and drapes. The next few days should see some dramatic changes.

Paint is intelligent! It will find ruthlessly search out and find every spot not completely covered with multiple layers of drop cloths.

Gas continues tor drop. Down to $2.69 last evening.

All stay safe.

Tom:

Gas is anywhere from $3.05 to $3.25 here

A bit of rain overnight, no thunder

Is there wood flooring under that carpet?  It's a big thing now.  Funny how that works, Everyone wanted wood flooring and paneling on the walls, then that Styrofoam ceiling squares.
That soon became painted white ceilings with wall-to-wall carpets,   That segued into wood floors white ceilings and the wood strips that are so popular now.  But if the original 1- 3/4" wood floors are nice, that's what they want.

Funny that those things come back in style  Smile  Smile

Watch yourself, paint finds a way to sneak into any "paint clothing" that you wear for overhead work too  Smile

Hello Blue
Sun this morning, hi of 80. Rain tonight will lower the temp for the next few days. Saw the doc yesterday, stress test was A-OK. Gas was $3.19 at every station I passed.
We have been enjoying the summer crops with sweet corn, real tomatoes, peaches, etc. No plans for this day.
