The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings, gang.

Remember the Day of Infamy.

Currently it's 12 degrees outside my window heading for a balmy 6 by this evening. Typical after last night's 6 inch snowfall. Winds will also be picking up to around 20 mph later on making it feel even colder. Then 40 by Tuesday.

Went to great-grandson's birthday party yesterday afternoon and had fun visiting with family. The trip home was a little exciting in the snowstorm. About 40 mph was top speed. Only part of the road visible was the track for the left hand tires with occasional glimpses of the stripes. Most everyone was going slowly except one idiot who decided he needed to pass the person ahead of him. Drawback was that visibility was less than a quarter mile when I appeared in his windshield. Yeah, he was headed straight at me. Blood pressure went up and the vocabulary went in the gutter. Then when I got home I tried to send a text notifying everyone of my safe arrival when I discovered that my phone had decided to put itself in airplane mode. Grrr!

I went out about 9 last night to clean the sidewalks before the temperature dropped. This morning all I need to do is clear the end of the driveway and then a quick run over the sidewalks as another light dusting of snow arrived sometime overnight. Also on the agenda for today is to watch my last F1 race. Next season the races are moving to Apple TV and I'm not going to pay another $14 a month to watch them.

Speaking of money (I was. See previous paragraph and pay better attention!) gas continues dropping. Down to $2.39 as I came back in to town yesterday afternoon.

All stay safe.

Another crazy 10 hour plus days at work. I don’t want to think about the temperature because I have been working outside in it. Being a construction inspector on the PA Turnpike is all fun and games until the cold weather hits. The construction workers are generally warmer than me because they are moving around constantly. Many times I am just standing there watching them shivering.

The only issue I have is I will be working Sunday night into Monday. We are switching lanes around at the Mid County Interchange between the East-West Turnpike, the Northeast Extension, and I-476.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

I know it's nuts!! Too much construction going on all at once..  Are you just removing the toll booths and adding EZ Pass?
How many more are there to remove in your area??

Is the turnpike authority going to make it easy (or at least possible) for us furriners to buy the EZPass? Last time we came back up the NY Thruway, there were no booths on the first stretch out of NYC and the rest areas didn't seem to sell passes. We got a bill later on.
There's a stretch of Interstate north of Buffalo that has some sort of fees for two bridges to Grand Island (I think). There's no place to buy passes between customs and the bridges.

Here is the link to the EZ-Pass Go-Pak retailer search:
https://www.paturnpike.com/e-zpass#ezpassshop

Just enter your zip code and it'll show you where they are available.
Then create an account here:
https://www.paturnpike.com/e-zpass/personal-account

If that doesn't work, then create an account and have 1 mailed to you.

Good evening folks

I am still feeling cold from last night. We started at 3 PM and ended around 4:30 AM. For me it was 13.5 hours. For some reason we had a lot of down time. At one point we had to wait nearly an hour for the turnpike to give us a 15 minute shutdown so we could paint the new lanes and move the delineators to direct drivers into the new pattern. We started at 40 degrees and the low was 24 degrees. The cold caused issues with the line paint drying and curing which also added to our time.

We are removing the toll booths, toll plaza buildings and reconfiguring the interchanges. The Turnpike is using Open Road Tolling which are gantries located every so many miles along the East/West Turnpike and Northeast Extension. No tolling at the interchanges. Our project covers Mid County, Norristown (toll plaza building stays), Fort Washington, Willow Grove, Bensalem, and the slip ramps at Virginia Drive and Street Road. There is another contract covering Valley Forge to Reading/Lancaster, and 2 contracts covering all of the Northeast Extension.

We got some of the Christmas decorations for the outside. Testing the lights for the bushes tonight. I think tomorrow night will be a better night to put them out.

I built some rolling kits until I lost a part. Luckily I can order and did order a replacement from Accurail. I did not get a chance to run trains.

I hope everybody has a good evening.
