Tonight's update is:

Tool Boxcar had a coat of primer paint applied, side doors put back on, decals are cut out and ready to go for each end. In the next couple of hours I will be putting the Conrail logo on each end since it has been drying all day out in the sun. Next we have a old ATSF flatcar that is being turned into a TOFC. It originally had the orange pieces that held the trailers in place but I got rid of those and I am using the pieces from the flatcar I had bought off of Bruce to make this a TOFC. If my math is correct, it should be able to hold two of the small trailers. Now I just need to figure out which railroad I want to decal this after. Tomorrow is a rainy day apparently so I will continue my research on which railroad I want to model it after.

Jim, Thank You. I use joint compound as the filler for all the holes and such. It takes a little bit to dry which I usually let anything I apply it on to dry for a entire day or night that way I am 100% sure it is dry.

I've been using lacquer filler for automotive for years fast drying and comes in white, black and red.

I've been using lacquer filler for automotive for years fast drying and comes in white, black and red.

I have heard of that. I’ve had been successful with the joint compound. I also use it to make concrete pads as you have seen.

Today was a small productive day. Got the pieces put together for the TOFC x2. Now just need to paint the one flatcar and choose a railroad and the C&I #116 will be stripped and get the same treatment. Now it is time for me to eat ready and get in the car to head to the Indiana County Fair for Band Night as my daughter is performing with the Marching Band. Since I am waiting for decals to get here this upcoming week, I started working on a MOW Caboose for the work train. There is still some more work that needs done to this caboose to get it where I want it to be but for the most part all the paint is done with it. I'm hoping by the end of the month to have a work train together and get pictures of it before that white stuff shows up.

Thank you Jim. Yeah they can be a pain. I got all the decals added on the caboose and boxcar tonight. They are now drying and I will take pictures sometime today. Since I’ve changed directions and I am now modeling Conrail, some of the C&I equipment is getting repainted for Conrail. The wreck crane is next on the list. I am only going to have a small branch coming off the mainline that goes back to Mine #33. The C&I will pull the loaded hoppers to the ebensburg junction where a set of engines will pick them up and go either west or east.

Here we go. Tool Boxcar #60306 is 99% completed. I just need to order the Kadee Metal Couplers then wait for them to come in the mail and it will be 100% complete.

   

MOW Caboose is about 95% completed. I just need to order wheels from either Intermountain or Atlas then it will be 100% complete.
   

I am happy with how these two turned out. Now I can focus on the Wreck Crane, boom car, and 2 gondola cars. I think then the Maintenance Dept for freight cars will be complete for the time being. There will be an old Baggage Car, 2 Gondola cars, Boxcar, Wreck crane, boom car, and a Caboose.
