It is accurate... Conductor side damage to CNJ 1071. 33A vs hump set. It can run under it's own power and is going to be moved to Altoona for repairs.

I ran down to Allen town today and grabbed a few pics of the CNJ unit. It was parked in a bad spot for photos so I asked if I could get a bit closer to it, I was told no. The man in the NS truck told me they parked it there so people couldn't take pictures of it. So I was forced to get a few shots of it from the road that runs parallel to the yard. You can't see any of the damage In my pics, all that I can tell you is that it was Idling so it can't be that bad.

If you look at E-Paws first photo you can see the damaged handrails on the slug unit 864, so the side-swipe story sounds credible.
Someone or someone's weren't paying attention to clearance issues while moving through the yard. Mark

e-paw Wrote:WOW I took the pic and didn't even notice that That would be because you were focussed on the CNJ unit, and I only noticed the damage to the slug unit because I paid attention to it after reading an article In TRAINS about slug units and who uses them. Mark

Interstate heritage unit damaged by mudslide
Published: January 17, 2013 SHIRE OAKS, Pa. – Norfolk Southern GE ES44AC No. 8105, the Interstate Railroad heritage unit, was damaged by a mudslide yesterday in northern West Virginia, according to company spokesman Robin Chapman. The locomotive was on a northbound coal train leaving the Loveridge Coal Mine on the railroad’s Loveridge Secondary, near Morgantown, W.Va, and is currently in Shire Oaks. The unit suffered damage to its fuel tank, handrails, and snowplow totaling about $1,000. Chapman was unable to give an estimate on the unit’s return to service. Last week, EMD SD70ACe No. 1071, the Central Railroad of New Jersey heritage unit, was damaged in a collision in Allentown, Pa.

Bruce, great to see you back!

Just wondering? I think that the lights on the top of the slug unit indicate that it is set up for remote control?
If so that may help explain how the heritage unit got side swiped. Mark 004.JPG (153.41 KiB)

Apparently the Erie unit was in the Milwaukee area this weekend on a coal train, but it wasn't leading so I didn't bother to look for it.
