Gary, It's good to hear from you. I am sorry to hear about your operators. It must be great to have friends close to run trains with you.
I get bored in the train room at times, and when Kevin comes over it makes for an enjoyable evening.
I hope you catch the record breaker. Are you a bass fisherman? I never wet a line last year and I only have to walk a couple hundred feet to fish the neighbors pond.
Looking forward to some updates.
Charlie

Thanks everyone!
Charlie B, I used to be a bass fisherman, but now I am doing salt water. Galveston Island is less than an hour from my house, have been fishing the bays around there. Flounder, Redfish, and speckled trout.
What's up docWayne?

I hope that fall finds everyone well and i wish everyone a warm winter.
The Houston Layout tour is happening, Saturday is my open house. As I was tidying up the layout room and cleaning track, I figured I should update this thread. Been having ops sessions about once a month, they have been going well. Also been making slow progress on the layout.
Added a long spur behind Pearland yard. I used four buildings to make one big industry. The white one you may recognize as one of the buildings Kurt sent me. The other three are stuff I bought from the consignment shelf at the LHS. They were four-sided structures, I ripped them down to backdrop dimensions on the tablesaw. I call this industry "W.R. Grace and Company" which is a real industry here in Houston, but it doesn't look much like my model.
Next is an old neighborhood modeled after Fennel Street here in Houston. The houses and tin building are fairly close representations of the prototype.
Next up is Azrock tile. This large complex is built from structures that Reinhard and Kurt sent me from Germany! Still alot of detail that needs to be done, pipes, ducts, roof top vents, dust collectors, etc... and then dirty it all up.

I can't remember if I posted the unloading chutes at Mountain King potatoes...
Did quite a bit of backdrop, mostly trees which is pretty easy, but here is a major project I tackled a couple months ago: Downtown Houston as viewed from the east. I am going to put some light blue washes over it to mute the colors a bit.
Got started on the neighborhood at Forest Hill Blvd. Houses and layout closely follow what is really at the prototype location. This will all look better once I put in the grass and trees and such.
Built the tin building that goes behind Harrisburg Yard:
Thanks for looking! As I said, I hope everyone is doing well.

Your layout is a honey Gary! Love the large industries and how well your scenery looks. Hope to see a lot more as time goes on.
