You made good progress and keep your style. I was afraid you have been all summer fishing only....
ps. The modified buildings from Kurt and me blend fine into your scenery

Gary! Thanks a ton for the walk around tour. That was really really fun to see.
May I see a few detail shots of the bridge over forest hill blvd.? It looks really cool, and I don't remember seeing it in the build thread.
I really enjoy most of all, the "breathing room" between scenes on your layout. It makes it look incredibly realistic, especially paired with the realistically large scale of the industries served by rail.

Gary,
Glad to see your update on your layout. It looks like you have continued to make great progress. Let me echo those above the look of your layout in its simple elegance. There are plenty of details, but lots of room for them to breath and be enjoyed. Please continue to post your wonderful work and I hope to see you post a little more frequently!!

Is there a problem with pictures in this thread? I totally missed Gary's return, and I was looking forward to see what has been done on the layout, but every page with pictures only shows me 1 of them, all the others are just little picture icons, does anyone else experience that?
By the way, NICE TO SEE YOU BACK ON HERE GARY!

Looking great, Gary! I have been really busy ad have not been around much this past summer. I was really happy to see this thread revived when I got back to the Gauge. It is my favorite thread and my favorite model railroad anywhere.

Russ, you make me blush! Thank you for the very kind thought there.

Haven't done any huge projects in awhile, so finally got around to working on the final piece of real estate that is available for industries.
Maxwell House Coffee has had a facility on the east side of downtown Houston for many many years. The facility is highly visible from downtown, being the only large multi-story building between downtown and the ship channel. Maxwell House sold the facility to Maximus Coffee Group around 2005. I'll model it as Maximus.
The prototype facility in the same area as the prototype bridges that populate my layout. I hadn't planned on building this one... the idea had fleetingly crossed my mind once or twice, but it is quite complicated and I simply dismissed the idea as being utterly crazy . But a few weeks ago the decision was made that it can be done.
It's a huge complex. To fit it into the space, the height of the facility was compressed, the warehouse was shortened from 6 boxcar spots to 3, and the length of the main building was shortened to about 3/4 of the real thing
Off to a good start...
And the real thing:

That certainly is one crazy building complex but if you can pull it off it will be awesome! Looks like you are off to a great start anyway
Cheers,

I can't see the pics again... oddly I can see them on my wife's laptop, which is older and runs Mac OSX 10.6 , I am using my work laptop at the moment with Windows 7, normally no issue. :-(
(Update) if I rightclick on the image icon, and open it in a new tab it's visible, but not inline...
That is a very interesting and unconventional shaped building, I'm looking forward on how this pans out, looks like you have the basic feel for it already!
