Thanks for posting this, Don. You are probably right about the closest railroad being Clarkdale, at least by road. To the north, the Navajo Army base used to have an extensive railroad system, but I do not know how much still operates. That may be closer as the crow flies. Formerly, there were logging railroads in the Munds Park areas, and I think those too would have been closer as the crow flies. I don't think any of the lines that made it into the Verde Valley area ever made it further east than Clarkdale.

You are right, there were logging railroads all over the area. We had one nearby a cabin we once owned near Prescott. Nothing left but the roadbed and a few spikes. Still, Clarkdale is it for an operating road. Flagstaff would be the next closest with a main line. I obviously took liberties in putting a mine near the Chapel but it worked out OK.
