Do you think it would benefit my coal dealer to get some GERN treated coal, for 3% greater BTU content? I am sure that the B&P will need GERN treated journal lube as well, for 3% less rolling resistance in the freight car trucks.

Does this help?

Quote:HOTCoal flux additive is not recommended for use in building heat

I've heard that Capone's boys have been adding HOTCoal to heating fuel deliveries to certain competitors to encourage them to... ahem... "get out" of the business... Wink

I don't have a GERN industry on my layout. But Wayne's Tool & Machinery INC. builds production machines for GERN industries world wide.

Southwick & Winsted GP-38-2 pulls a brand new GERN Flux Roaster Model 78 from Wayne's Tool & Machinery

Ed, thanks for reposting this one...I enjoyed story of the manufacture of the roaster, and I sure like seeing it again.
Many of the wide dimension loads have that "what the heck is it" look.

You got that right, Charlie. Even with the stencilling identifying it, most folks at trackside don't have a clue as to its purpose.
However, when you start with raw flux...... Wink Misngth Misngth

Again, no GERN facility, but Dominion Turbine built this flux model to specifications provided by Cookie Gibson himself. It will be shipped out shortly by the OA&GB.
