I've been stock pilling a bunch of FEC aggregate hoppers for the passed few years, whatever I saw on ebay I bought. I have about 10 now and I think I might have bought too many. Anyway they're going to be Tilcon (ex-FEC) stone hoppers. They're Walthers models which have one minor incorrect detail, the end braces are at a 45 degree angle and should be vertical like the rest of them. I shaved that brace off and got the panel hopefully smooth enough and won't be too noticeable. My biggest nightmare of painting cars and engines are color matching and now I need to find a red close to this car body then patch it up for TLTX markings.

I can't tell you which red to use but can say that is a nice smooth shave you did on removing those rib braces.

I have no clue as to a colour match uther than saying since your going to patch for a different owner I would not worry about a perfect match just something close then some weathering. That's how I would do it but YMMV.

I'm not worried about a perfect match but don't want 2 noticeable red stripes on both sides either. Kamerad you're right, almost all of these cars are heavily graffitied and so will mine
