I still have the track down from my last setup so I staged a few cars and my lone locomotive and a transfer van for my Kensington sub.

As far as I know, PFE was originally a joint UP/SP effort, but Western Pacific got into it at a later date. I'm not sure how the arrangement was eventually terminated, but there was obviously a splitting of the assets, as shown by the word "UNION" preceding "PACIFIC FRUIT EXPRESS" on Deano's reefer.

Earlier lettering styles used various versions of the UP shield on one side of the car...

...and the SP herald on the other side:

Later (after my operating era) both heralds, in black only, could be seen on both sides of the cars.

Just to continue a bit with Wayne's post, UP & SP started PFE on 10/1/1907 . UP & SP split up all the assets ending the joint venture on 3/1/1978, it is now a UP subsidiary Thumbsup . WP joined up in 1923 and ended their part of the venture sometime in the 50's Wink . (history lesson for the day Misngth )

PFE through the years...(starting with Wayne's posted car)
