We commemorate on Nov 11th -- end of WWI. 11th hour of 11th day of 11th month. Britain does roughly the same. It used to be Armistice Day but is now Remembrance Day.
Last weekend (May 24th) we celebrated Victoria Day -- Queen Victoria's birthday and since then the official Canadian birthday of the Canadian monarch. Used as a marker of the safe time to start putting in the garden.
The twenty-fourth of May
Is the Queen's birthday,
And if you don't give us a holiday
We'll all run away.
