Well, it was a special event, so people were trying to pose in some way or at least take notice that their photo was being taken. That's why the guy on the light pole puzzles me. Why was he on the light pole fixing something during this time? Perhaps they were still setting up for the special event and he was attaching some kind of decoration?

Could you possibly get a better view of the event than where that guy is atop a light pole? He's just another spectator. Bigger problem than that, I would be concerned about that 2 x 4 laying across the tracks.
