Frank...That's a nice collection of steamers in that picture... Thumbsup (I like the load in that hopper in the foreground.... Goldth )

Do you have any closeups of the ANNA Mountain..?? It looks to be a real beauty....

You like the realistic coal loads ? I seem to find so many of them just laying around. Waste not want not -- so -- may as welll cary something.

That is E-Paw's locomotive. I am sure he has posted a number of photos here. I will look and come back and edit if I find one.

PS Steves engine on my turntable.

I do remember the elevated line and haw we would sometimes cringe :o as it creaked Eek and groaned Nope as a heavy boiler-ed steamer would cross over that section of the main.

And Steamtrains, here is a shot from a trespassing railfan of one of the mountains taken from inside of the roundhouse. At this time I have 2 of them with a 3rd in the works. I'll post some pics of them tomorrow.[attachment=8877] you can see the other one Waaaaaaaaay off in the distance to the left.
Very impressive! A huge bridge indeed and superbly modeled.

Thanks for those pics.... Thumbsup

I've got one (B'mann) that I might want to "tweek" a bit...so any pictures would help to "borrow" your details.... Goldth

BTW...What is that little "house" on top of the bridge..??
That little house is the interlocking tower and operators control room. It protects that section of the main and controls the bridge. On the system timetables it's known simply as "Draw" tower. And I got some pictures and a small list of detail parts that I used for you Steamtrains. They are all Cal-Scale parts; #2003 Elesco feed water heater, # wp-343 water pipes, and #190-392 antenna support stands.

Two ARR mountains are about to drop there train in Allentown and head for the roundhouse to be turned for there next run. It's very common to see them double headed on fast freights. They are Jack of all triads engines, received from the USRA during the great war, and are still favored by crews allover the system in present day 1945.

[Image: 001.jpg] Here are the two mountains getting serviced after a westbound run across the Delaware River into PA.

[Image: 002.jpg] After taking water, 833 creeps onto the turntable.

[Image: 004.jpg]865 is on the ready track for a run back east to Bergen point.

[Image: 007.jpg]This shot shows a stock one on the right and a modified one on the left. I feel that the feed water heater adds some heft to these locos.

[Image: 008.jpg] This last shot shows the PRR compatible train phone system. It was added to all locos that run on PRR trackage, as mandated by our trackage rights agreement.
E-paw....Thanks for those pics & the part #'s...

"I feel that the feed water heater adds some heft to these locos."
Exactly my feelings....It's a brute of a loco, but a little on the "dainty" side. The FWH will add that touch of heft....

Where did the bell go..??

I won't be adding the antenna....The only use for them on the LC&P would be to do duty as a clothes' line.... Goldth
Gus, if you look up a couple of pics it looks like he moved the bell to a spot on top of the boiler between the domes.
Aha..!! I "spied" it. At first glance I took it to be the whistle...
Ok, back to the bridge.the next thing that I wanted to start working on was the safety railing. I couldn't find a commercial product that I liked so I fabricated some from some brass wire. It's an easy process. I just drew out the shape of what I wanted on a scrap of plywood and taped down the brass wire on top of my drawing.[Image: 028.jpg]

Once everything was positioned correctly I tacked every joint with some solder.[Image: 029.jpg]

Clean up the excess solder, trim the legs to height, and this is what you get.[Image: 030.jpg] A nice industrial railing.
very nice! That is alot how i built my catenary auxiliary/trolley wire jig. the only important thing is that it might be wise to add pins to hold the wire roughly in place, since after a while soldering scorch marks will obscure the locations.
Nice work, Steve. Thumbsup

I do similar work using a sheet of 1/4" thick balsa as a work surface. You can draw lines right on the balsa, but I found it more useful to do so on a sheet of paper, then pin the drawing to the wood. That way, the balsa can be used for many different projects in addition to soldering, such as laying out styrene "lumber" to create fences. Simply pin the horizontal members in place, then add the vertical posts, touch each joint with a brush loaded with solvent cement and you've got a sub-assembly. I used quite a few packs of Evergreen strips, then combined the sub-assemblies in-place on the layout. With select posts sunk into the plaster terrain, the entire yard can be lifted as a single entity.

Nice work Doc Thumbsup

After soldering up a bunch of railings together it was time to build some more walkways and add the railings.[attachment=9218]

[attachment=9217]

Along with the railings I also started on some of the electrical conduit.[attachment=9216] "Notice" no more than -4- ,90 degree bends with out a pull point. Still have to keep it up to code.. Nope
The next thing on the agenda was to start on the staircase that leads up to the tower/operators room. It just some left over stairs that were in my junk box.[attachment=9220]

More railings were added to the stairs to keep the LPB's from falling to there death.
Man that's nice!!!! Cheers Thumbsup Thumbsup
