Fantastic attention to detail and great workmanship...!!! Thumbsup

I'm sure glad you didn't do this build for the last scratchbuild contest... Goldth
It's way too BIG of a job for the scratch build contest.. Eek It still won't be completed for quite some time..And thanks for the complements everyone. The next thing to get some attention is the cable support tower that extends from the top of the control room. The total height is about 35 feet and will hold several cables and some fuses when compleated.[attachment=9241]I used the same method of construction as I did in other parts of this build. it's just some U channel and I beams from Evergreen tacked in place with glue and pins.
After the tower was dried I held it in place and felt that it seamed too tall for the model. I scaled down this section from the CNJ bridge that is considerably larger than the the bridge that I am building. So I cut off the top section and used just that portion, It's much better proportioned this way.[attachment=9251] I used a small square secured with painters tape to hold it upright until the glue had completely set.

The support tower needed a little more detail added to it, so I added insulators ( to hold wire that I have yet to install) and a ladder.[attachment=9250]

Before I called it a night I went one step further and finished up some of the electrical conduit. It's more of the same bent wire that was used elsewhere on the bridge, but, this time I needed to add a service head to the end of it. I just carved them of some old plastic sprue and glued some string coming out of it (to represent wire). These two pipes will be the Line & load for a small bank of transformers that will be mounted on the platform.[attachment=9252]
A great structure becoming even greater with the details Thumbsup
A little more work was completed on the bridge. Cheers I built the transformers for the bridge from plastic and brass rod.[attachment=9308]the one all the way on the right is not for the bridge ,,It will be used elsewhere.

I also "wired" the support tower and installed the pull out fuses.[attachment=9307]

Love the transformers! I wish they sold more of that sort of stuff

Are they more than meets the eye?

This project is really coming along nicely!!

Those transformers are more then meets the eye.... 35 35
Well, the transformers are in and wired. Two of them are in use, and one is kept near by as a spare. This was normal practice to keep extra parts on hand as to minimize downtime in case of failure.[attachment=9338]
This finishes the movable section of the bridge It's now ready for paint, weathering, the wood deck, glazing, and this, and this, and this Nope Nope Nope Nope
As I was waiting for some parts to come in for the bridge I got some work done on the Allentown yard. This first shot is from the western side of the yard looking east. On the other side of the hill is Easton witch is CNJ trackage. a branch line splits off of the main from Allentown at Silk tower and runs to an interchange there.[Image: 20120324191223.jpg]

This is the middle section of the yard, you can see some red wire sticking up where I still have some turnout controls to wire in. I have also marked the location of the yard office.[Image: 20120324191246.jpg]

And now the east end of the yard looking west.[Image: 20120324191155.jpg]
