I'm currently reading the history of the Denver and South Park railroad, a gutsy little line that handled the Alpine Tunnel as well as many other hard to reach locations.

It's a bit if a sad story after all the hard work and even heroism of the many workers who kept the railroad going through those difficult years, only to see it waste away.

The story of the attempt to re-open the Alpine Tunnel and the multiple tragic deaths that ensued is enough by itself; the rest of the history just adds to it.
