I have also heard about the vaseline trick, I think maybe Joe Fugate brought up the subject in one of his DVD-s. We discussed it before she poured the first layer, and looked through the cabinets for anything resembling vaseline, but didn't have any at hand, and she was so ready to make the water feature that she couldn't wait Wink Anyway, we have both learned by now, and will have some vaseline in stock next time.

Hi Svein
I would just touch up the creeps with a little flat paint if they bother you. I personally think that they look fine because the waves from a boat passing would make the wet spots up from the waterline. I would be very careful using any petroleum based product as it tends to get to places it wasn't intended.
This is just wonderful work.

There are still a couple of details left; paint the outer framing, finish the railroad crossing signs, scratchbuild an outhouse to be placed over by the shack, and adding a couple of animals amongst the trees.

Wonderful! And that is her first one... what do we have to expect over the next decades... Confusedhock:

Thank you guys. Smile

An early progress shot of the outhouse. Everything is built from scratch with styrene strips, including individual boards for the floor and the walls:

Wonderful work! Just tell me if you ever get the urge to do 1950s urban Minneapolis scenery :-)

Grin,
Stein, who thinks Svein must have a quite a few days left on his challenge - time always move slower during the Easter Vacation :-)
Excellent modelled scenery! I should visit your girl friend (and you) in my next Norway vacation!
Sorry, no trouble, a next Norway travel isn't planned.

Svein

Bernhard, no problem, nice if you would drop by whenever you're in the area, we live just over an hour's drive east of Oslo.

Beautiful diorama ! Thumbsup
This has convinced my girlfriend to want to do something similar.

Fantastic work!

Some new progress pics of the outhouse. Just a mockup of the floor and walls, not glued yet. The footprint is 12mm x 15mm, and the height is about 30mm. Framing is 1mm square strips, and the boards are 0.25mm x 2mm.:

Here's the front wall and the door:

She used the knife to poke some knotholes in the boards, these will be sanded down a little before painting.

If an outhouse can be a classic work of art...this is it, however, a Sears catalog may replace the TP depending on time period. Goldth
I am feeling seriously inadequate.
