Well, it's once again time to revive this thread, after doing 'gardening work' all summer... Smile

A new building from Vigdis, this time a small coal / sand house from Blair Line. Vigdis will have two such houses on her layout, in conjunction with the turntable and roundhouse:

The roof section for the depot is finished and weathered, this is the Springfield Depot kit from American Model Builders INC:

The walls will have the light creme color just barely visible on the underside of the roof, while trim and other details will have the brown color shown on the gables. We have also ordered some interior details (wallpaper, flooring, wood stoves and some furniture and accessories) from Scale Structures, as this building will have interior lighting and a removable roof.

The depot is finished, only LPB's and lighting remains:

Nice interior detail, the one picture, through the window, is a great shot !! Thumbsup Thumbsup

Where did you find the wallpaper? I could have used something like that for the tour ship interior.

Svein

All the interior details were ordered from Scale Structures Ltd, they have a lot of cool stuff! The wallpaper is #3 in their 6000 series - Fezziwig's Interior Accessories.

 I should have known !

Thank You sir, I'll try to remember that in the future.
Is that Mary Jane on the wall paper? Icon_lol
When are you going to marry that gal. If she can make a model home as nice as all these buildings imagine what she would do with the real thing, and if she can cook as well as she models, you better start a diet right now. Icon_lol
I really wish I had the proper words to tell you how great her modeling is. She is very talented.

Can you guys imagine what would happen to our egos if the girl that is modeling the Thomas train,( I think it was/is Angie from the UK.) and Vigdis got together to make models?

Just great work with amazing attention to details.(my wife is following this along with me)

I declare forfeit! Icon_lol Incredible skills at work here. Even the stove fumes are on the wall!

Matt
Hi all and thank you for the nice comments. Smile

Here's a shot of the Durango depot in 1980, just before the sale to Durango & Silverton. You can see that the colors are very close to what you have on your depot.[attachment=12410]

Actually, that's the exact same depot we used as a reference, we found several close-up pics on Vigdis' D&RGW multimedia adventure kit that she bought earlier.

Svein,
Did she use the block of wood for the roof contour to get the angles? Thats a really good idea....Specially for the time the glue needs to dry!

VERY nice work and good eye for detail!

If you look carefully you can see the small angled pieces that came with the kit, they are glued in place behind the gable ornaments and fit just inside the walls. The block of wood was just a scrap piece of 2" by 2" from our garden railroad project that I placed the finished roof on when taking the pics.
