Something about the black and whites makes the photos seem so real. Sometimes I really have to look hard to determine whether it is real or a model.

I especially like the photo of the "Beeg Boy" at Airline Junction. The way it is photoshopped to look like an old photo is superb. The background and buildings are very convincing.

On a different subject, I am trying to read/respond to several threads, but my internet service is dreadfully slow tonight. Since i am in the "boonies" as far as the cable folks go, I have satelite and must contend with the Fair Access Policy. My daughter downloaded the latest version of Explorer and must have crashed the satelite!

I also came across these views from around Dunnville, circa late-'30s.

Here's Grand Valley Mogul #34 again, this time tying-up traffic to both Wilkinson-Kompass and Coffield Washer as she backs to spot a car at the Walnut St. Freight Terminal:


Out of the way of the traffic in the first photo, she's still blocking Walnut St. as she tucks the car into the yard, with another loco a couple of tracks over further contributing to the congestion:


Here's a look at the Walnut St. crossing tender's elevated shanty, probably a few years prior to the previous photos:


This view of one of the Evell boys getting into his car dates the photo to probably late summer, 1939. With war in Europe about to erupt, the Evell factory will be busy and two of the Evell boys will off to Europe to fight:


This is the P&M Languay building, fronting on Liberty St. but seen here in a view taken from the lead to Creechan's Fine Fuels:

I like the "feel" of this one. Downtown street sided by tall buildings, kind of an urban canyon kind of deal. Nice.
