The Freelance 2016-2 thread ended with:

The alternative 2017 is a plain long structure. It has a similar optical effect but emphasizes the industrial impression better.
Pressboard is a great material to get robust larger structures. I have not decided about the skin to be used.

I recently found an inexpensive F-7b and a free F-3b shells. The F-3b is a cast metal Cary shell:

and the other F-7 shell:

I'm not sure the manufacture of the F-7 shell. I think it's a Bachmann.

I drilled both shells for the hand grabs and lifting eyes on the roof. The F-7 was pretty easy, since it was plastic. The F-3 was considerably more challenging. The casting is thicker and the cast metal is soft enough to gum up a hand twist drill. (I drilled all holes with a #76 bit) I used some Vaseline for drill lubricant.
After drilling the lifting eye holes I installed the lifting eyes, then I airbrushed the CN yellow in the sides.

A leased MP15AC is doing the switching for the Dock Street RR. Caught them pulling a car from City Supply.

Well I did it again! This past summer I tore out my Everman Layout to build the NEW Ft Worth Sub - FWWR.

This came about because of my want to operate more trains and my Grandkids wanting to just play with Grandpa's trains.

This is a 3 level layout that is to represent the FWWR mainline from Hodge Yard in Ft Worth Tx, to Cresson, Tx.

The Staging level will have a Staging yard that will represent Hodge Yard and all other connecting points and Railroads. This level will include a reverse loop to turn trains and two small helix's to move trains to the next level.

The main level, trains will enter this level via two options.
One will be, UP trains will take UP trackage from Staging up helix and run parallel to the FWWR main, cross the FWWR main at Tower 60 and then down the other a helix back to staging.
The FWWR trains will take FWWR trackage from Staging up helix and cross the UP and BNSF diamond tracks at Tower 60. The line will follow along to Trinity Park and cross the long trestle in the park. Then proceed to their 8th St Yard. At 8th St there will be a set of power stationed for local switching duties. After the yard trains will travel to the next Helix up to Cresson on the top level.

After completing the helix up, trains will continue on to the Cresson Yard. Another set of power will be station here for local switching duties. There is also a branch line to Cleburne and a small yard to handle local industries there.

I am the proud owner of a couple N scale locomotives by Life -Like and I am in the dire need of some drive springs for the N scale GP38 locomotive! Would somebody please let me know where I could find these springs? Thank you, leon

As a teenager I was hard to buy for since I didn't want the newest transistor radio, record player, model car kit or other like items for Christmas so I ended up with a lot of money and clothes and in that light December 26th was my Christmas.

On the 26th I would head for Woolco before they open so I could pick over the model train stuff now on sale. The year I remember the most is the year I had a $100.00 and that was a lot of cash back then and would buy a lot of goodies-far more then $100.00 today. The 26th was the great after Christmas sale and "toy trains" was 50-60% off.

Anyway here's what I ended up with that year from Woolco all for around $30.00.

2 AHM PRR E8As

7 AHM PRR passenger cars and three PRR baggage cars. I rebuilt these with Central Valley trucks and body mounted X2F couplers. These of course was used at the Columbus HO club.

2 AHM structure kits.

3 sets of AHM figures.

The remaining money was spent at Halls hobbies on Central Valley 6 wheel passenger trucks,X2F couplers with draft gear and a United Models PRR K4..

A great Christmas.
