Hi guys,
I have a bunch of locomotives from my son that have suffered some abuse from my grand-kids so Grandpa gets to fix them.
One of the locomotives is a Bachmann GS4 that has the parts from the front of the tender missing that attach to the drawbar.
I'm hoping one of you may have one and can post a picture so I can make one. A scan of the parts list would be nice too, but it runs great and the locomotive is damage free so I don't anticipate needing anything for the locomotive.
Thanks, Charlie
Left over from my days of modeling British outline back in the 80’s. All of the locomotives run but, keep in mind they are Grafar chassis, or in one case Lima. First photo shows:
#1. LMS 0-4-0 (Class 4F?) by Lima. This loco was purchased at Paul’s Train Shop/AMRO in New Oxford PA about 25 years ago. Amazingly, in spite of Lima’s notorious “pancake” motor, it runs quite well and quietly.
#2. LMS 0-4-0, D&M white metal on Grafar 0-6-0 chassis. Runs OK, noisy like all older Grafar, hesitates once in a while over switches but, could probably benefit from having the wheel contacts cleaned.
#3. LNER Class J33??, D&M white metal on Grafar 0-6-0 chassis. Same comments as for #2
#4. GWR Pannier tank by Grafar. Same comments as above.
Assorted wagons and a few extra tenders.
$50 plus $7 postage (domestic) for the lot.
Assorted British vehicles: $8 plus $5.50 (domestic postage) for the lot.
Take both lots for $60 post paid (domestic). Postal money order or PayPal please. If interested, please PM me.
A little birdy told me that it was Don (Ezday's) birthday yesterday!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON, HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT DAY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR THE BIG BLUE AND TO HELP KEEP THIS THE BEST TRAIN FORUM ON THE WEB!!!
**edit, looks like i jumped the gun, Don's birthday is tomorrow, i will crawl back in my hole and be quite now
Found this old Revell shell at a yard sale, paid .50 for it ,so I'm thinking of incorperating it with the IHC kit Grusome Casket Co. and turning it into a fab shop.So here are a couple of shots after a bath to remove dirt, grime and decals.
Well this happened a while ago now, but the Big Day did arrive,
I had to be on my best behavior as 200 fingers came to see and test the PistonBroke Line.
Grades K (kindy) to 4 of The local Primary school came to visit. And the Chief Engineer was working up a real sweat making sure that all 4 trains kept running and blowing their horns for 30 minutes without running of the rails..........
That's me "not running of the rails" .....as well as the Locos.
Here are some of the Captured Audience
errm... I mean captive
Although, even being captured, they all seemed enthralled by it all, hock: and asked millions of great questions, probably only so they didn't have to go back to class to soon.
But it was a real Buzz to see the wonder in their faces, and I am sure they enjoyed it.
And I farewelled them with a reminder to ask Santa for a train set for Xmas. HO HO HO HO.
Anywho I survived, The Pistonbroke line survived, the dog survived and the kids survived, so it was a great little interlude for all
and we hope to do it again someday.
I got this idea today while reading "Steam Railway," a British news magazine containing news stories re the preserved steam railways in the UK. In the UK, of course, there are dozens of preserved railways operating so it's easy to fill its pages (for example, I just read about another new-build -- they're working on building a brand new 2-6-2 tank engine at the Severn Valley Railway! ). There are actually a few heritage railway magazines like Steam Railway.
I was thinking that I'd be interested in reading about similar events happening in Canada, although I realize that we'd have about 1/10 of the news. For example, our Canadian preserved heritage railway magazine could contain news article about the steam and diesel engines at the South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham, news at the Halton County Radial Railway (streetcar museum) or the recent batch of news of Toronto's John Street Roundhouse being turned into a railway heritage centre. Late one night, I quickly posted a batch of recent heritage railway news on this forum (viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1034), so it would be neat to stay up-to-date on what's happening locally.
There are also good steam/diesel railways in Manitoba, Alberta, B.C. and Quebec (the last I heard, the latter [Quebec] steam railway was closed and engine being offered for sale). There are also cool Canadian railway museums across the country and several in Ontario.
I'm a designer of a Christian magazine, so I have an idea of what the magazine industry is like (VERY hard to start a new one!!), so I'm totally saying this tongue-in-cheek.
I realize that the Canadian Railway Modeller magazine and the U.S. TRAINS covers some Canadian heritage railway news but I'm thinking that there may be enough news to fill (say) a quarterly magazine. I also realize that there are a couple CNR and CPR heritage magazines out there that fill this void. I just thought it would be a cool idea to have a general, all-Canadian heritage railway news magazine. It could cover actual operating railways as well as museums ... and possibly some current mainline news?
Any thoughts/feedback or suggestions? I think I have a half-baked idea here just not sure what to do with it!
So my pal Bob and I hit a few of the layouts on the DoubleHeaders layout tour. It's a group of modellers from the Kitchener-Cambridge-Guelph area that open their homes to the public every year. This year there were 29 homes on the tour this year, several with more than one layout. As well, there were several layouts in the registration hall, including Tim Warris's Bronx Terminal layout.
Here's a few pics of some of the layouts we saw...
There's a rumour that the Aberfoyle Junction club will have to pick up and move, since they want to build another subdivision where it currently stands. I thought I'd grab a few pics to remember it by:
Brian Hume has a very nice On3 layout coming along, with some very nice sound-equipped motive power:
I think one of my favourites is Graham MacDonald's Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound layout. The structures in Depot Harbour are amazing:
Thanks to everyone who opened their layouts to us and made the tour such a success. If you're within driving distance, I strongly recommend this tour. I also recommend having lunch and a pint at E.J.'s in Baden!
Installing a DCC decoder in an Athearn Blue Box was hard?
Try taking a picture of a lightning bolt.
This was just taken tonight by me. Its kinda like another hobby. Out of the fifteen years of trying to get a picture of a lightning bolt, this is only the second good one that I ever got.
No....I'm begging, on my knees pleading.
We need articles for the up coming Emag issue.
OH...I'm sorry...Did I forget to mention that?
We're bringing back the EMAG!
New Forum...New E-Mag!
Anyway...We need your articles, pictures, How-Too's, railroad history, stories(good for you guys that actually work(ed) on one) product reviews layout tours, railfan hot spots. With lots of pics!
And we need them by April 15th(ish).
Don't worry if you don't think you can write. We'll fix 'em, fluff 'em, spell check 'em for you.
You can e-mail them to me at eightyeightfan_99@yahoo.com
Please mail text and pictures in seperate e-mails
Title your email:"Text For Emag Article", and "Pics For EMag Article". They may get deleted(and have in the past) if you don't.
When sending pics, use a File Name such as "CNE1" "CNE2"..ect...ect...
When writing the text, use that file name where you'd like the picture to go. (Or, you can just let us take care of the picture placement for you)
Ex: (CNE1)
As you can see in the picture, the Central New England used mostly Baldwin locomotives at the turn of the century.
So..Lets start thinking, typing and getting them articles to me(or Mikey[Ngauger]...Don't know why...He usually sends them to me anyway)
And remember....Everyone gets in...And there will be a link(Ohh) from my Facebook, and Yahoo accounts, so it will be seen by other people.

Now I am no expert on lionel trains. I have just lived thro all of Lionel's attempts to make and sell HO scale trains. I've see alot of them. I have a few of their cars and locomotives. My reason for having them is their use of the English ( John English-HObbyline ) dies to create their first Lionel made locomotives. Mainly the pacific 4-6-2 type. When they made their pacific they slightly changed it. The placed a square cover atop the boiler against the cab. Above this they put a turret cover. The turret cover inclosed the valves and piping that feed steam for auxiliary uses. The square cover was large enough to look like a small belpare firebox top the size used on the PRR K2 locomotives. The Pennsy is one of my main roads. The USRA tender Lionel used also looked like a PRR tender so if the price was right I aquired a PRR K2 pacific.
Here is one of my PRR K2's I got this way. PRR #5730. The tender is a Bachmann tender.
