Greetings, gang.
Chilly this morning at 11 degrees. Supposed to get to around 30. Near 40 tomorrow but with winds about the same it won't be very pleasant.
Had to shovel snow yesterday for the first time this season. About an inch of light fluffy snow. Saw some people clearing sidewalks with a leaf blower. Today is bill paying day. Not much else planned.
Gas was down to $2.53 yesterday. That's almost back to where it was before the 40 cent holiday spike.
All stay safe.

Good morning, cold here supposed to be breifly in the 40' but also calling for wintery mix. Columbus we get cold and when it comes to snow we either get a dusting or we get dumped on.
Seems winter here is colder and dryer then when i was a kid.
Winter of 78 we had an actual blizzard the same year we had a bad tornado season as well.

Good morning everyone, more weather records for the year. It hit 83 yesterday, 14 degrees over the average temps and two over the old record. No complaints mind you, just that there's no rain in the forecast and we're still a few inches below normal. The past two years, our summer "monsoon season" were busts, producing almost no rain.
Gas is dropping a bit, Costco & Sam's down around $2.85, a few others down to $3.09. The lowest prices in Arizona are along I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson, the lowest there being, $2.39.
Got an early appointment this morning, then a free day to catch up on some housework and get a few Christmas decorations put outside.
Take care everyone, have a great and peaceful day....

Greetings, gang.
30 and cloudy outside my window this morning. The temperature is supposed to rise until about midday then drop as another one of those fronts comes through, this time bringing winds over 40 mph and much colder temperatures. Low tomorrow morning is supposed to be in the single digits above zero.
Quiet day yesterday. I was surprised I didn't sink straight to the bottom of the pool after my food sins over the weekend. Busy day today what with charging the phone and rolling the trash can out to the curb. I did get the bills paid yesterday so the house is mine for another month at least. Also got some more music downloaded to be put on my mp3 player for the gym. They will also go on my phone for next year when I start riding the bike again.
Gas was goofy again yesterday. Most stations were around the $2.50 mark but a few places felt their gas was worth $2.89.
All stay safe.

Hello Blue
Cloudy, windy and cold till Sunday. Temp is 26. Too cold too soon.
We did some grocery shopping yesterday. Eggs were back up to four dollars. Gas was $2.99 every place we passed.
This will be a stay-at-home day. Nothing planned for outdoors.

Good morning good people, yet another weekend is upon us. Too many, too soon. I'll be next year in a few weeks and I'm still mentally somewhere in the middle of this year at best.
Temps are dropping, but still flirting with 80 for a while. Those weather guessers still can't make up their minds. One thing for sure, none of them believe we'll see any rain soon. We're still at 4.5", well below normal but an inch higher than last year.
Gas is dropping a bit, some stations have gone out of their way to drop two cent, down to $3.27, while Sam's Club is now $2.80. If I want to save some money, I can drive some 30 miles away where Sam's gas is $2.48, not smart, but also, I canceled my Sam's Club membership almost a year ago, Costco is closer and I've been a member there for around 30 years, right after they merged with the Price Club....
Enjoy the day, do something you like doing just to make the day worthwhile....

Greetings, gang.
19 and clear at the moment. Supposed to get to the mid 30s this afternoon. 40s tomorrow and 50s on Sunday before we return to more seasonal temperatures on Monday.
Yesterday morning was a little different. While listening to my mp3 player while working out I heard the same song repeat. Thought that was a little odd but decided to check it out when I got home, Come to find out I had 4 copies of the same song. Started investigating further and discovered similar occurrences with a number of other songs. Got that mostly cleared up and sorted out. Still need to do the same thing with my phone.
My usual Thursday group was interrupted by a phone call from one of the members who winters in Nevada. We had a nice chat with her. Her husband got hit hard by covid and his lung capacity is down to around 45%. In addition he was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. After we finished our weekly get together I had to travel about 45 minutes south for a Christmas concert for one of the great-grandsons. Left the house at 4 and didn't get home until almost 8:30. Another concert tonight but I don't have to leave here until around 6.
Greed won again at the gas pump. All the gas stations were reporting $2.89 but starting to drop again.
All stay safe.

Good morning folks
It is a bitter 30 degrees with a nasty wind. Yesterday was even worse with temperatures in the 20’s and winds gusting up to 50 mph. Throw in the usual wind that comes off the river thus making the job site close to be unbearable. Once I got it took me about 4 hours to finally warm up. We did do some Christmas decorations, but no modeling got done.
.
This weekend will be dedicated to Christmas decorations primarily. The tree is up but will need to be decorated. I don’t know if I will do the outside decorations on Saturday or Sunday. Sunday is supposed to be in the 50’s while Saturday will still be in the 30’s. In between decorating there is laundry and trips to the grocery store and PetSmart and who knows where else.
I am hoping to continue building kits and tuning up rolling stock. I also want to run some trains.
I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning
We have 28 degrees but to me it feels like 12 below. I haven't been warm for 3 weeks. I can't seem to get the body fire burning enough to keep warm.
I worked on planting more areas of grass yesterday and it looks pretty good. I did discover that the 3m spray adhesive doesn't work for this so I mixed more Elmer's. I may have to buy another gallon but that will finish everything on the layout. I am running out of layout work but Like the rest of us, I am running out of time too.
More to report later.

I was in need of some Elmer's, all I could find was the yellow stuff in gallons at Home Depot and Lowe's. Was going to settle for a small bottle at Walmart and they guy told me to go the the craft dep't. They had a gallon of white glue for $6.00. I figured it would be diluted school glue, but when I got it home, it was as thick as Elmer's at 1/4 the price.

Remember the Day of Infamy, gang.
29 with lots of clear skies this morning in the remote wastelands of northern Iowa. Supposed to get to the mid 50s today and tomorrow. Should be a very pleasant weekend.
I skipped the gym yesterday but that doesn't mean I skipped working. After a windstorm earlier in the week I had another batch of leaves to clean up. Since the yard waste disposal site is closed for the season I herded them all to the driveway. Then tragedy struck. It seems the fell on a match and a conflagration ensued. There were no survivors. After that I trimmed the bridal wreath bushes way back.. They were getting way out of hand. I now have a pile of branches on the patio that will need to be chopped up and there may be another event in the future involving flame.
More family activities last night and through the weekend. A Christmas concert for one of the great-grandsons last night, a basketball game at noon today, and a birthday party tomorrow at 4.
Gas price is coming back down. It was $2.79 yesterday. Eggs were $4.47 at Walmart.
All stay safe.

Thia "Final Countdown" scene always gives me the chills:
- Commander Richard Owens: [ looks directly at the Japanese prisoner] 26 November, six carriers left the Kuril Isles north of Japan. The carriers were the Akagi, Kaga, Shokaku, Zuikaku, Hiryu, Soryu. Tomorrow at dawn, these carriers will send 353 planes to attack Pearl Harbor.
- Senator Chapman: [staring, stunned] How in the hell do you know all that?
- Commander Richard Owens: Your code is "Climb Mount Niitaka." Niitakayama nobore!

I do remember hearing that speech on the radio. Too young to understand, but I knew it had to be something bad. So little is mentioned of this day in the news anymore, probably the whole war is just a page or two in the current history books, while Taylor Swift's tour might take a whole chapter. Sorry for sounding fecicious, but that's the way things are now days.
Prayers that we've all learned a lesson from this day.

I have to agree with Don most have forgotten the sacrifice's that that this day innated on the nation as a whole as a Vietnam vet it makes me verry sad that all the young men that died then are forgotten.
I'll get off my soap box now.
stay safe and warm Jim

Years ago, I read somewhere that the U.S. has become complacent about war. Mostly due, to that, we have not had a recent war fought on our soil and we have never been bombed.
Other countries have that respect, in that, they still have memories of what the world looked like with a lot of buildings damaged by war.
