" Post Count "
#16
This is an honest question, so please, don't take it the wrong way.
Why do we even need a post count? Seriously, what is the point?
The only information that is conveyed in that number is that a person has been around longer, or has more to say, or has alot of time on their hands.
Obviously, I don't want a post count of 1, because that would indicate that I am not sharing what little information I have about the hobby we all love, but it would not matter to me if the counter stopped working.
And which came first, the Counter or the Light Bulb?

The only thing we use the count for is to recognize members that have contributed something, when they "roll over" on the thousands. It's another way to recognize contributions of members, nothing more - nothing less.

We don't mind if someone simply lurks and never posts, we're here to teach, share experiences and learn from others by seeing their work. Smile

The "Posts" simply, are the means to convey information. The post count's "congratulatory messages" simply show the member that we care, that they're taking their valuable time to share their knowledge and/or support on our forum Big Grin Big Grin

I have over 10,000 posts on Zealot, a lot of them are Birthday, Fantasy League, Moderator and "Congratulation" posts.. Smile

On the other hand, for people who profess not to care, there is an awful lot of concern being expressed here.

Personally, I could do without the post count, as it has nor bearing on the knowledfge of the poster or the authenticity of the subject matter.
