Hi everyone, I thought I would share with you my latest creation.
It's a kit from "Rail Scale Miniatures" called The Drake Street Shop Track.
It's based on a real Canadian Pacific railroad structure & scene in the false creek yard in Vancouver BC.
You can also purchase a additional lighting kit from Ngineering.com to light this scene up with.
So I just finished it yesterday, and I thought I would share some pics of it with you.

Season's Greetings everyone.Robert Wanner is my favourite rail photographer---his outstanding Canadian railway photographs are primarily taken in and around Armstrong Ontario when Robert was serving in the US Airforce during the 50's.His pictures often inspire me to try and recreate similiar scenes on the Leetown Division---Robert took his photo at Armstrong June 1955 and my scene at Leetown recently.

   

   

Ok guys and gals, I acquired a Bachmann GP40 from my girlfriend which was part of her father's collection before he passed away 20+ years ago. The locomotive was running not so great when I got it and now it is running even worse. I've checked all the wires and they are all hooked up properly to where they should be. There is the weights that Bachmann had put in there and I know if I take any out it will not have the guts to pull any of the cars of I have. Could it be a simple fix as to adding more weight on the chassis or would I just have to simply replace the motor in it? If that would be the case then I can have it fixed tomorrow sometime. I mean the engine couldn't even pull 6 coal cars and a caboose. It got to the point to where it wouldn't even pull just the caboose but then once it sat for a few moments it would pull the coal cars and caboose then right back to only being able to pull the caboose.

It could be the fact that the engine is probably well over 30 years old and it could just be wearing out and need a new motor. I don't know, I just don't want to bench this engine as I know how much it means to my girlfriend and I promised I would get the engine up and running and it was then this happened. Murphy's Law at best I guess. Any help would be appreciated.

Well it looks like Interaction Hobbies is continuing with it's tradition of a free Christmas themed kit. Last year I built their Christmas Tree dealer kit. This Year they have introduced their Santa's Workshop kit. It's a free kikt that you get when you purchase 70$ or more of their products. I had a few kits on my wish list so this made me press the order button.

   

It's a cute little kit whose footprint is 3 3/8 X 3 5/8" and apox 2 stories high. 

   

So what you get is laser cut walls, windows, foundation, doors glass and a whole bunch of Cristmas add-ons. I suppose that if you just wanted the building to be a regular shop or garage, you could just leave the Christmas themes off (but what fun would that be?)

   

I started with cutting the walls out of the clapboard siding sheet.

   

Then I added the wall bracing. It's all laser cut as well. On the instructions recomendations, I added some scrap stripwood to block off the lower rafter holes. This makes adding the rafter tails to the right depth easier later.

   

Then I brushed the walls in A&I and I'm letting them dry before painting. The instructions have very good painting suggestions, but I'm doing it a bit differently.

Today is December 7, 83 years after what was called, "the day in infamy". Please don't forget, it affected more than those at Pearl Harbor, it affected the entire world. I remember that day, I heard the president's speech but was too young to understand, although I remember it as clearly as if it was a week ago.

I saw on Reddit this evening that M. B. Klein is closing 12/15. The Reddit poster states as his source a post on the NMRA Facebook page. Since I am not a member of the NMRA I cannot see anything on the NMRA Facebook pages. I have learned to take what I see on Reddit with a grain of salt.

I know M. B. Klein has been having a big sale for awhile now and suspended their rewards program.

Anyone else hear about the closing?

Ok Guys, I bought a SW9 the other day at the local hobby shop and a shell off of Ebay for the SW9. My problem is that the SW9 shell has a metal tube glued down for the forward facing light. What home remedy can I use to remove the glue without damaging the shell at all or what store bought chemical can be used? I thought about just using a set of plyers but I don't want to break the shell as I can't find another one in the color scheme that it is in.
