Hello Everyone---my wife Sharon and I had a chance to meet a couple of very special visitors to Hamilton today---sorry it's not train related but I can think of a couple of Big Blue members that might enjoy the pictures---NCSM Ville de Quebec and USS Hurricane
A couple of our countrie's finest
Not very big but I'll bet she can throw a mean punch
It was really interesting to see one of Canada's newest frigates next to the HMCS Haida

Hello Everyone---it was a beautiful fall day today so I took a drive to the Westfield Heritage Village to snap a few photos of the autumn leaves

Great pictures Ed. Is this gal static? She looks to be ready to fire up and run. I love the fall pictures and I can once again enjoy the fall. Fall was the worst time of the year for me from 1984 until 2011. Now I too can enjoy the leaves.

Hi Charlie---even though the 103 is a static display,it does not take much of an imagination to visualize this beautiful locomotive during her glory days under steam.Kudos to all the volunteers who obviously spent lots of time and effort in restoring her to her present pristine condition. Not too long ago this same locomotive sat in Gage Park in Hamilton but after years of neglect,it was relocated thankfully to the Westfield Heritage Village. As you know,I usually end up taking more than a couple of pictures during my railfanning adventures---here's a few more shots

Hello Everyone---we had a beautiful autumn day and a trio of CP GP9's down at the Kinnear Yard made it even better

What a difference a day makes.Yesterday,Kinnear Yard was filled with 50 year old Geeps, this morning I spotted one of CP's latest diesels---ES44AC 8917.Maybe I'm showing my age but I have to admit I like the older diesels better (even if they're not steam )

Ed I too enjoy the first generation diesels, but I guess we have to go with the Flow. It isn't every day we get to see an old Geep or a covered wagon. I miss the e's F's, and G'eeps. The heritage units all proof that great paint jobs could make it less boring for us as fans, but I haven't shipped any freight by rail personally for 7 years, so what I think doesn't pay the bills.
Your fall colors are great.

Thanks Charlie. Thanks to my cousin Warren Holmes who lives in The Woodlands Texas,I have finally acquired a couple of pictures of my father when he was working on the Canadian National Railway. These photos are from Warren's deceased parents family album and were taken in 1956 at the Stuart St. yard in Hamilton. My aunt and uncle (Warren's parents) lived in Beeton Ontario and would often visit my family in Hamilton---I'm assuming it was my uncle who actually took the pictures during their visits---for a train lover these pictures are priceless
The final shot shows my brother Danny (on the right) and Warren's brother Butch in the cab of 0-18-A switcher 7431

Hello Everyone---to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup ( Canada's equivalent of America's Super Bowl ),Via Rail and a number of corporate sponsor's created a museum train which has been touring the entire country---this weekend it is in Hamilton so I grabbed my camera and headed down to the Stuart St. yard to get some pictures.
As well,I had a chance to catch some of the regular power spotted in the yard
Finally on my drive home,I drove along Lawrence Rd. and caught some action at CP's Kinnear Yard.
