Wow, looks like the Luck of the Ed was with you today.
Charlie
The green one's neat looking! All the pics are great!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Hi ED, I do have a question.
How far to the East of Toronto have they extended the Go line? There was some talk years ago about expanding service but I haven't heard anything because I've been out of the loop for so long.
Charlie
Hello Charlie and Mikey---thanks for your feedback.Charlie,as far as I know, eastery Go rail service ends at Oshawa and in the other direction, rail service ends at Hamilton but there is Go bus service as far as Niagara Falls.During the recent Provincial election, there were some commitments to expand GO rail service to to include all day service in Hamilton with easterly rail expansion (possibly to Niagara Falls) as well---we'll see
Here's another shot of Go's motive power---being a steam fan,I'm finding it hard to appreciate their looks. It was unusual to see this train at this location (Stuart St.) today as they are more likely to be found on the early morning commuter trains which leave from the downtown Go station on Hunter St.
Terrific pics..!!! You've got more RR traffic there than we have auto traffic down here....Lucky dog...!!!
Are there any plans to electrify some of those lines..??
Those pictures of #'s 9812 and 8838 just seem to say
..."BIG POWER"....
Thanks for posting...
Hi Ed,
Those old Geeps just keep hanging in there. Still work pretty good for 54 year old seniors, of course they probably have had a transplant or two.
Charlie
Hello again---just goes to show there is life after 50
Here's a shot from the 80's when those Geeps were the mainline locomotives
Here's a couple of CN Geeps and a caboose---I'll bet you won't see this combination today.Lead locomotive 4264 still has a high hood
And it looks like you had a great day at it.
