Hi Charlie---it's a " win /win situation" Big Grin ---my wife Sharon is really happy that I'm volunteering to run all the errands but I think she's getting wise to my ulterior motives Icon_lol Here's a couple more shots from today's adventure

HeIlo Everyone---I spotted an interesting train today at CP's Kinnear yard.First of all,a Canadian National SD75I #5766 was the power,I think this is the first time I've seen a CN mainline locomotive at this location.CN must have made special arrangements with CP to haul it's interesting consist on CP's trackage---the train consisted of flatcars loaded with various components of a Vestas wind turbine.The train was heading east out of Hamilton,I'd be very interested in knowing it's final destination.Some of the components almost look space-like.

Hi Charlie---CP's Kinnear Yard really is a great spot for local railfanning in Hamilton.Lawrence Road runs along beside the tracks east of the yard and offers lots of spots for some decent photographs.Another bonus is the fact there is a combination of old and new motive power and a variety of leased locomotives as well.Here's what I saw today.

Hello again---I spotted a couple of "oldies" laying over at Kinnear Yard. SD40-2F "Red Barn" 9008 built in 1988 and SD40-2 5879 built in 1984 --- if these are consider old,I must be ancient.

Ed, This is a new one to me. I think this is a much better looking locomotive than some of the new passenger locomotives. Put a classy paint job ( a heritage CP in the green yellow, and black, and you would have something. That would make an interesting HO project.
Keep in mind this unit is older than a lot of the forum members.

Hi Charlie---Canadian National also had similiar looking locomotives as CP's 9008.Built by GE in 1990,the 2400 series C40-8M locomotives were known as ''draper tapers".The full body gave them a massive and attractive look---I don't know if they were geared for high speed passenger service but they sure looked good at the head of freight trains.I really wish our Canadian railroads would follow Norfolk Southern's example and create some heritage units---actually Canadian Pacific had a very attractive maroon,grey and yellow scheme and the Canadian National had the classic green,black and yellow livery---man,I'll bet they would be beauties.

Well, leave it to me to mix up the colours of the railroads..but they would look good in both paint jobs. They look like brutes when covered.
I bet the crews don't like the visibility to the rear, but the poor guy that has to check one out in the winter probably doesn't mind being protected from the weather.

Looks like CN liked those "full cowled " units.Here's a couple more models---EMD SD60F 5562 built in 1989 (still in service) and Bombardier HR616 2115 built in1982---this locomotive was retired in 1999. #5562 looks very similiar to CP's 9008
