  protosounds and programming
Posted by: hwright08 - 03-21-2025, 07:02 PM - Forum: O/G and Larger Model Railroads - No Replies

Hello I am new to protosounds and programming. I am currently using the z4000 transformer, and I'm wondering if certain numbers do the same thing across the board or if all channels are specific by locomotive. Excuse me if my terminology is incorrect. Thanks in advance.

Hello all I have Aquired a set of Athearn Blue Boxe Santa Fe passenger cars and a F7a and F7b unit I'll be detailing the engines and adding sound i will also be doing Interiors in the passengers cars with lightning effect.

I'am at a point now to get started just need to find a source for some technical info mainly the Interior colors in the cars.  Is there anyone here that may have that info and some color pictures?

Thank you in advance.

  Our New Admin TomPM
Posted by: ngauger - 03-19-2025, 06:25 PM - Forum: Hobo's Camp - Replies (3)

With the passing of Don (EZDays) I needed to decide on a second Admin for Big Blue.
Don & I have been doing the Admin duties since Big Blue began. Remember, Don, Pat & I own it.

Pat (Duffy), Don's son, has been a huge help to both of us and the Forum!!  Worship

With that said, please send well wishes to TomPM, our newest and first "appointed" Admin.  2285_

  Major Issues
Posted by: tompm - 03-16-2025, 12:06 AM - Forum: Layouts - Replies (24)

Over the last couple of weeks a major issue has developed on the layout that pretty much is making it unusable.

I have been having problems with locomotives surging at various locations throughout the layout. This is happening in both DCC and DC. This started after I began working on the siding for the Golden Valley Canning Company.

The layout is divided into four power districts/sections. This issue is happening in all four districts.

I have tried numerous things.

Cleaned the track several times.
Replaced a couple of suspect pieces of track.
Removed the fuse circuit.

Nothing has helped and I am at my wits end.

  HO Scale track spacing
Posted by: LiveSteamer - 03-01-2025, 08:48 PM - Forum: Tips and Tricks - Replies (6)

Ok everyone, I have question on what is a good spacing for between each HO Scale track? I am in the process of planning a small staging yard for the futrue Bethlehem Mine 33. I have seen where some are saying 1-1/2 inch from the center of the track, others have gone 2 inches from the center and etc etc. What would be the best option for this that would give me a closer to prototype look? This is the first part of my railroad that I’m working on as to me it will be the easiest.

Looks like the month of February was skipped, so let's get March started.

If you are going to run your league again, I would like to be in it and I would like my drivers to be same as last year, Larson, Elliot, and Hamlin.
Looking forward to another year.

  Fixing the oldies
Posted by: nachoman - 01-28-2025, 12:28 PM - Forum: HO Modeling - Replies (5)

Recently I have an interest in acquiring classic trains and fixing them up.  Something about the heft and durability I like compared to new models which feel delicate for my clumsy hands.

Here is a Hobbytown of Boston E7 that I got in rough shape and missing parts.  I fixed it up and painted it and it runs great now!
