was rummaging under layout and found this box it brought back memories of times long-ago the next photo are the contents of you recognize them then you have been modeling a long time I will give some hints they are metal and use KaDee number4's and the trucks are sprung. I put these together in the early 60's.

Looks like I am starting this off.

This my newest locomotive and one I have been waiting for for awhile. It is Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines B6sb 0-6-0 by Broadway Limited. Here it is pulling some 40 ft wood reefers past the station.

I have tested it and it runs well. I am agravated some because the smoke generator is giving me issues. I turn it off with the switch under the loco but it is staying on. I am able to turn it off with F7 on the controller. I will emailing Broadway Limited on Monday. This is diappointing since I have been waiting for so long for a PRSL steam locomotive. This is the first one I know of since IHC went out of business 25 plus years ago.

Hi all,

We just saw the move F1 with Brad Pitt the other day.
Worn out plot, but fun action shots.  Did a good job of explaining tire choice and wear to the audience.
Not really a movie that is memorable, though.  We went on the cheap seats day.

Better movies:
Ferrari
Ford v. Ferrari

is there anyone who has a collection of kadee couplers boxes that they would be willing to part with, by boxes i mean the plastic box that the couplers were to fit in.
also is there anyone with a Athearn trainmaster frame with powered trucks that they would sell or trade or just a set of powered trucks.

  Lionel 400E locomotive and cars
Posted by: Charlie B - 06-08-2025, 09:45 PM - Forum: Engineer's Technical Workshop - Replies (3)

My son is an avid collector of Lionel and other o gauge/standard gauge trains and has been for 25 years (He has 75 Lionel F3's). He recently acquired the  Blue Comet set from the 30's in standard gauge. He wants me to repaint them for him and I know I can get the paint custom mixed locally but it can be bought on line too. I am guessing it was alkaline enamel but I would like to have the correct name for the colors. I don't think we can get an accurate sample from the locomotive. If there is some color internally when he tears it down (he is a wiz at mechanical repairs, even rewinds armatures) we might be able to do this but I am asking for alternatives just in case.

He will be learning how to use an air brush because he has hundreds of old models he wants to freshen up. He isn't concerned about value because rusty items to him need to be repaired and as a guy with years in the body shop and paint business I agree but I am getting beyond my prime so I need to pass the torch.

Thanks
Charlie
