SO, Kitbashing threads...
Should they live in the Scratchbuilding Forum OR the appropriate scale forum?
Thanks,
Galen

Gents; When I click an RSS link in G-mail, it works well, but drops me in to the BOTTOM (last post), rather than the topic (first )post on the thread. That seems backward to me. Thanks for running around putting out all these little fires. Bob C.

| Best ways to change ballast colour |

I've just started tinkering with a small layout. I'm almost done laying the track (I have to tweak it a bit).
I realize that I should change the colour of my ballast to suit the prototype. I believe ballast colour of the area that I'm modeling (the Somerset & Dorset Line in SW England) was a brown/pink. Before I start ballasting, I thought I should try to change the colour of my ballast and was wondering what was the best way for doing this.
I currently have some Woodland Scenics grey ballast. It works well but, after applied, appears far too clean and white-ish for a steam-era railway. Should I mix ballast of another colour with this?
Thanks,
Rob

I dont know how many of you have thought or tried this but here it goes. During my switching run tonight i found the track was a tad dirty and made the loco chug here and there. So i hot glued a piece of road bed (1.5 inches wide) to a stick and used it to clean the track, worked for me and inexspensive too.

When I finish my session on Big Blue, should I logout? Will staying logged in cause problems or waste resources?
If I don't logout, will my "view new posts" be affected the next day?

I had tortoise switch machines in HO, but then again I never had a yard. I want to use ground throws on my new layout for the yard. Suggestions? I don't care if they aren't the most realistic, I only care that they work well and are reliable. I am using Atlas code 55 #5 turnouts. Do I need to power the frogs? My only engine as of now is a Proto RS-2. I won't have anything shorter than that. Thoughts? Thanks.

I was looking through the forums and noticed that we don't have a track planning forum. I think we have enough bugs and glitches in the system that putting up another forum is probably not a high priority, but I thought I would throw this one out for future consideration.

Every time I try to navigate around the site I keep having to sign in. In addition I cannot add this site to my favorites because for some reason my Internet access does not have you listed. I'll give it a day or so, maybe a few bugs have to worked out. Looking forward to seeing some of you all again.

The January issue of RMC has an article on LInn Moedinger's HOn3 layout. For those who don't recognize the name, Linn is the president of the Strasburg RR. I'm not in HOn3, but I read eveything train related that I can get my hands on. Some other good stuff in this issue.
