Bruce, your proto pictures look really good, so I'm surprised that those of your models don't look the way that you want them to.
That last car which you posted seems quite unusual: in addition to having two domes, (and off-set, too), this what-appears-to-be a modern car also looks like it has a separate frame. On most modern tank cars, the tank itself serves as the frame.
