How 'bout some Juice Jacks ... a Kermit Geary Photograph that I just thought was cool I had to download it!

ATSF needed power for locals and switching. The government regulation was against using carbody style units for switching. Probably because of lack of appropriate footboards or places for trainmen to comfortably/safely ride the unit during those types of operations. They would have been fine as road units, but had out lived their service lives for that purpose.

The book "CF7s, From Cleburne to Everywhere" is a great read. Very interesting.

It is an Ex-NYC T3 Class electric, primarily used to run passenger service through the tunnels under the Hudson River into New York City. It operated both off the overhead catenary as well as off the third rail. If you look at the wheel arrangement, 2-C-C-2, you will notice the same wheel arrangement and very similar running gear as the PRR's famous GG-1.

Of course, being more of a Pennsy fan than a Central fan ... I vote for the GG-1! Thumbsup Cheers

I've seen many photos of those T3's as NYC units but I think that was the first shot I've seen of one in PC paint. Thanks!

At the risk of going outside the rules of the game, allow me to humor Ralph!

I don't want to be a spoil sport here, so I want to review the rules for the newer people.
First a picture can be followed with a like piece of equipment (steam locomotive/ steam locomotive of any type) ( cab unit/ cab unit of any type F/E/FA/PA/Shark etc). With the other diesels a like model locomotive should follow, and you should play off of the main subject.
You may also post a unit or rolling stock with the same reporting marks (UP locomotive/UP box car) or box car with any box car, etc).
You can also play off of the unit number (not including the reporting marks) ( a loco number 7135 with any equipment numbered 7135)
Models are acceptable, and encouraged.
As with all pictures posted on the Gauge, they must be your picture or you must have the rights to post it.

apology not needed, the rules were never made clear. We are however lacking model pictures. My excuse is no close layout at the moment but soon I will have to take a few shots on the old layout before it meets the scrappers torch. Misngth

Wait a sec! Are those the rules?

So an FP7 can be followed by an FP9 but a GP7 can't be followed by a GP9?

Why the liberal treatment of cab units but absolute strict compliance with other diesels? :o
