"What's the issue, Steve? Charlie's photo fulfils the rules, "

Not at all sir.. I had just read a post where a new member had asked what where the rules for this thread. I had answered it with my post, and when I look back at it now, the post asking the question is now missing. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: it should be just ahead of my post, maybe I am just seeing things, or need more sleep, but I would have bet my life that it was there.
Thanks for the clarification Steve. I didn't see that person's post when I replied to you, hence my response. Perhaps he intended to contribute, then realised that whatever he had didn't fit the criteria. Let's hope he returns, as I enjoy watching and participating in this thread.

I couldn't figure it out either, but Steve made me do some research on CR 3004, and I found some odd facts (or not facts) so it is all ways fun, buit I know Steves feeling. That has happened to me too. Icon_lol

I don't remember the name on the post with the rule question, but the avatar was a selfie stile pic .
Charlie B Wrote:And Bruce has proof that this locomotive was still 3004 in 1994 when, according to Don Ross it was supposed to have been renumbered to 3018 in April of 76, and isn't listed on the rosters I have found. Charlie,
I rechecked the date on the photo and it is August of 1994. I did a search thru Google and found a pic of CR 3004 leading a freight thru Columbiana, OH dated 12/22/94 on Railroad Pictured Archives. Went thru my CR books and found in "Conrail the Final Years 1992-1997" by Paul Withers, that CR 3004 was listed as being retired on 9/25/90, brought back into service and then again retired again on 7/20/93. In the same book they also have a photo of 3004 in use at Millville, NJ on 6/19/95. With the info from my photo, the one from RR Pictures Archives and from Withers book have no clue when 3004 was retired or if it was ever renumbered.

I've been away for some weeks and came home to find my computer not allowing me to access the internet. My cable company advises that everything is OK on their end, so until the problem is resolved I won't be able to post pics on Big Blue.
Thanks for your research Bruce, It just proves that the railroads can slip some stuff by us. The original is supposed to be a GP38 and the one I posted is a dash 2 (I think) but I don't know them that well. I notice the first 3004 lacks ditch lights so it may have been in and out of storage, I also found one roster that said after the renumbering the unit was sold to Maine Central..I need to remember this for a time when someone says they are right because they found it on the internet...
This makes this that much more fun and if Steve hadn't been hit by a "Bait and switch Misngth " we would never have know it.
Going off of Charlie's last pic of NS GP40-2 3004, NS GP40-2 3026 at Vineland, NJ on March 11, 2011.

Time to re-awaken this thread. Here's some more Conrail, at Niagara Falls, NY, I think...
