Jim:  I saw a comment on the TV about that. Health people say that boiling medicine does odd things to it and that the fumes will send it into the body faster and more than the normal method.
Greetings, gang.

48 headed for 60. Fall has definitely arrived.

My foray yesterday into a couple of stores proved to be successful. All items on my list were acquired. Not much planned for today. This evening is the last full get together for the Thursday group. The married couple are headed back to Nevada for the winter. I woke up at 3 again this morning. I'm beginning to think it's a (unlisted) side effect of a prescription drug I'm taking. Should be finished with it early next week.

Some info on the chicken/Nyquil incident:

All stay safe.

Just saw something on the news, it's another dangerous Tic-Tock challenge invented by kids whose brains aren't fully developed.

Good morning all, yesterday turned out to be a really nice day. We had a thunderstorm roll in about mid-morning and after that downpour, it rained on and off the rest of the day. We got between 1/2 and 1" in just a few hours. Suppose to have more later today. As for temps, the NWS said it got to 94 at the airport, another said it only got to 88 there. Where do these people get their data from?

As for gas, everyone is up, Costco is $4.05, most other stations at $4.19. Things are getting out of hand and the only thing that the feds are doing is raising the lending rates.

Not going to get much done on my log cabin for a few days. I had a biopsy on my right hand and went to the doctors since it wasn't healing. I left about an hour later with less skin and about seven stitches since the biopsy came back positive. Not uncommon here in the Southwest desert. This is the second one on my right hand this year.

Take care, enjoy the day and by all means, stay safe.
Good morning folks

It is currently 72. The high is supposed to be 76 and we are predicated to get some thunderstorms. I don't see anything close by on the radar map. There is a bunch of stuff along the ridge lines to the west particularly along a line from Harrisburg to Scranton.

The wife had a far better day yesterday with a little pain and stiffness but no where like Tuesday. Now the dog has issues. She apparently did something to her left hip. Every so often she yelps and then favors her leg. This has been going on for a couple of days. Called the vet last night and I am hoping to get her seen tonight.

I tuned up for reefers last night. This meant adding metal wheels, and in some cases washers to the truck bolsters so that the couplers would meet the Kadee coupler guide. The three cars I had to do this to were all older Roundhouse (black box) or Walthers kits. The "newer" Roundhouse kit was okay. I hope to do some more tonight. I added screws to an Shell Athearn 3 dome tank car blue box kit, and built a Lehigh Valley 34 ft composite hopper also an Athearn blue box kit.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Hello Blue
Sun this morning. A Hi yesterday of 87, today and for many to come the Hi will be in the 60s.
The summer plants are already showing signs of fall. I did nothing noteworthy yesterday so no stories to tell.

Good evening.
I have managed to get my little office where I build and repair models halfway organized and have room on the workbench to......w o r k
I have been adding some newer motive power to my roster and it requires proper DGLE paint and new decals as well as decoders.
I have installed all led lighting in the train room and it has helped my vision a lot.
I did install 18 feet of leaf guard on my mower shed gutter and it went on very easy. I had to order enough screws to do the rest. I got the leaf guards about 6 weeks ago but forgot about needing the screws. I am hoping I have time to wait for them to arrive, I had to order them from the hardware store I deal, they didn't have the 3/4 inch length I wanted. I have 197 feet of gutters to protect, and I am getting too old for ladders to clean gutters every fall.
It was beyond cool here today, I had to put on a sweater while I tried to mow the grass. I got rained out so I went to the train room and 4 hours later it was time to give it a break and allow some glue to dry overnight.
         Stay safe and happy everyone.
          Charlie
Summer left us yesterday. Temperature is now 9C (50F) and I was given a sweater in this morning's clothes.
We bought a new phone set today. The previous set is not maintaining battery power. The old one has 3 handsets; the new one has 5 and I don't know what we'll do with them.
What do you do with old phones?
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 54 outside my window this morning. Rain and a high of 58 are the words in the forecast for today. Only a 60% chance for some light rain so I don't expect much.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. I did point out to our local law enforcement (again) that the page showing the location of the automated speed enforcement vehicle had not been updated. Third time in the last month. Said farewell to the couple from my Thursday group who are heading to Nevada for the winter. Nothing major on the agenda for today. Tomorrow is a wedding for a neighbor and Sunday is more great-grandkid football

All stay safe.

Good morning all, yup, we're now into the Fall season, really don't see much difference yet, we still have triple-digit heat in the forecast. The only real sign is that all the big box stores now have both Halloween and Christmas stuff up. I'm looking around at Walmart to see if I can't find an Easter basket. Waiting

It did rain yesterday, but kind of scattered and on the east side of town. Still a lot up north which isn't too good for the folks near where the fires were earlier this year. Flash flood warnings there ended yesterday I think.

Oh, thanks to a disgraced owner, the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury teams are for sale. He bought the Suns around 15 years ago for a paltry $400,000,000. They are saying the team is now worth $1,800,000,000, that is almost a billion and a half dollars profit and I'll bet he'll find a way to avoid paying taxes on it. Oh, the TV news already has a list of cash buyers. We have folks right now that can't afford to buy groceries and gas, and we have a few where a couple of billion dollars is mere pocket change. Oh, speaking of expensive sports, the Superbowl is being played here this time, end zone seats are selling for $10,000. And no, you don't get to take the seat home with you.

Have a great day, stay busy this weekend, but mostly doing fun things.
Good morning folks

It is a bit nip at 50 this morning. High today will be 63.

We had to take our dog to the vet yesterday. She has been yelping on occasion and holding her left rea leg up. It only happens once and a great while and lasts for a few minutes then she is back to her nitty self. It turns out she has a trick knee. Eventually she will have to have surgery. For the time being we are going to work on pain management.

I did not get anything else done either around the house or with the trains. I did get the trash to the curb. I had to make an emergency run to PetSmart to grab hay for the Guinea pigs.

I need to make a run to PetSmart this time for cat food. I have a bunch of phone calls today. I need to reschedule my MRI and physical therapy. The annoying one is to my medical insurence regarding getting my wife diabetic supplies. We are having issues with suppliers doing the billing correctly. The supplies are 100% covered.

I am working tomorrow, Saturday. I am hoping to get some more gardening done when I am home. The wife is talking about getting the Halloween decorations out so I will be bringing bins up from the basement.

My new Broadway Limited PRR E6 Atlantic 4-4-2 was delivered on Wednesday. I am dying to try it out and I hope to so this weekend. I would like to continue tuning up the mass of rolling stock that is sitting on the layout.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy at the moment but it's supposed to clear off and get to the mid 70s. Much nicer than yesterday when the thermometer struggled to reach 60. I did manage to squeeze about a quarter inch of rain out of the clouds yesterday.

Laundry this morning and a wedding and reception this afternoon for a long time neighbor. Could be fun. Not much else planned.

Gas was down to $3.56 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning and happy Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving Day. Yup, they are a few months ahead of the rest of the country, but to each his own.

The weather is wonky, the TV lady had maps showing chaos all over the state including the valley. Turns out we here in Surprise were among the few that got any rain at all, about 1/8". I looked outside to see some puddles evaporating, that was it. Why, well temps were a bit over 100 so rain, snow, sleet and hail don't stay on the ground too long. Nope

Gas is slowly heading up, Costco and Sam's Club now at $4.15, only five cents below most other stations. Just figured it out, Costco is three miles from me, so it costs about a dollar in gas to save maybe seventy cents at best. The nearest station at $4.19 is two blocks away, so guess where I'll be filling up later today...

Got some household chores this morning, some college football later. Arizona State has done so poorly that their game today is not being televised nationally. The coach quit but they haven't said how much he goes home with, probably millions, just like the last one they fired a few years ago.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
We're still dealing with Fiona. Most of the island is without power. Lots of storm damage and flooding to deal with.
An October day, cloudy and 60.
Looks like a long day of football.
