Greetings, gang.

Clear and 66 and I don't care how warm it is going to be here as I'm leaving in a few hours for Texas where the temperature and humidity will be downright miserable.

I did get the water heater replaced yesterday and it was actually still in warranty so my only bill will be for labor. The kitchen table and back hallway are piled high waiting for me to pick up the rental and start loading. With any luck I should be on the road by 9ish.

All stay safe and stay out of trouble while I'm gone.

Tom
Good morning everyone, the TV weather folks had us all set up for a really big storm showing videos of flooding and wind damage and maps with ominous-looking colors heading our way. Just that those videos are of storms of the past and the maps a bust. What did we get? A few sprinkles on the east side, nada most everywhere else. They are saying that the saguaros in Saguaro National Park are starting to show the affects of no rain, this was day 131 here, measured at the airport.

Had our family dinner last night, for some reason my great-grandson decided he wanted to play cars with me, so he sat on Pat's lap and we pushed cars around. He's been kind of skittish with me because of my beard, so this was a giant breakthrough.

Gas is creeping up, looking at $3.99 as the norm. Got to fill up this morning, it's a toss-up with Costco four cents lower than Sam's, but Costco is further away. Decisions, decisions.... we shouldn't have to think this early in the day.

Enjoy the day, stay safe and stay cool.
Hello Blue
80 for the days Hi. No sunbeams, the smoke haze has returned.
A rare trip to Kroger as their prices are higher than other local stores. They had something on sale that I wanted. Only bought sale items.
Stopped on the way home and had White Castle cheeseburgers for breakfast.
Gas was $3.79 most places.

hi all/ bad night at black rock hip is starting to heal but also hurt can't seem to find a comfortable position on the bed so i took a couple of pain pills we will see if that helps other than that its going to be a long up hill battle .found out upon discharge from hospital that my primary care doctor retired so now i get bounced around till they find a replacement .well enough middle of the night rambling stay safe and well.
Jim
Good morning all, nothing has changed here, still hot, still no rain. We should be back in the 110+ range starting today, it's just not letting up.

Jim, sorry to hear your hip is still causing problems, they say that a hip is the hardest thing to heal. Good luck on your hip, good luck on getting a good doctor. Mine is due to retire soon too. He doesn't say so, but he's down to three days a week and is now part of a larger group. He's still the only doctor in the office, but he's got some 4 or 5 PA's or NP's.

Not much else going on here, just the usual chaos and mayhem, Police shootings, wrong-way drivers, robberies and homelessness. We won't talk politics, too depressing right now.

I hope you all have an enjoyable day today, I know we're not the only ones fighting the heat. Just got a notice from my power company that my electric usage is up 43% from last year. Well duhhhh, that should not be news, not with the heat wave we've had now for well over a month. So stay cool and don't be shocked when your electric bill shows up.
Hello Blue
I seem to have lost some pages. Did you move again?

Nope, what have you lost? We're still on the same server so let me know and we'll check it out.

Good morning all, I skipped yesterday, opted to get a dermatologist to cut something off my head. I thought maybe my brain was leaking out, but he assured me that it was simply a gift bestowed upon most here courtesy of the Arizona sun. Speaking of that, we're back into the 110+ days again, still no measurable rain in most areas and none in the forecast. A very brutal summer everywhere.

Another weekend coming up. I'm just about done with all my workshop projects, now to find a good time to clean up all the sawdust in the garage, maybe early tomorrow if my head stops hurting.

Take care and have a great day....
Good evening folks

It has been a crazy week. I had early days at work and a bunch of overtime in the afternoon. Throw in a doctor’s appointment for my wife. I have been flat out exhausted most nights.

Somehow, I did manage to install decoders in my Bowser Reading Century C-630 locos. I also changed the plastic couplers that come with the locomotives to Kadee couplers. The pins on the couplers, however, are being problematic. Even after bending them, they are still catching on the switches. I am at the point of clipping them off. I also took one of the Rapido PRR F30D TOFC that had the broken couplers and poor running. I changed the couplers and used the tool to clean out the trucks. I have been slowing trying to assemble a trailer train. I created a consist with my Walthers Mainline Chessie SD-50’s.

This weekend will be shopping, doing laundry, and some gardening.

I am thinking the C-630 locos may need help, so I plan to add decoders to the Bowser Alco Demonstrators Century C-628 locos and add them to the consist. I want to fix the other two Rapido TOFC’s.

I hope everybody has a good weekend.
Good morning good people, nothing new to talk about here, rubber stamp the past month or so, 110+ temps, no rain and rising gas prices. That's it in a nutshell.

Did sleep in a bit, it's Saturday after all, but then I had a lousy night the night before so I deserved to sleep in. Plus I'm taking today to do household chores. I am not going overboard, but there are things that need to be done and with temps back into the 115 area, going out isn't a good option. Heading up north to cool off would be nice, but stupid. Traffic on the I-17 and the Beeline Highway is worse than trying to get into a Taylor Swift concert at the last minute.

So much for now, I hope you all have a great weekend, have fun, stay cool....
Hello Blue
All is good, just didn't find any new post yesterday.
Cloudy with a hi of 80 today.
It's Saturday so I turned my boxers inside out, next Saturday I get fresh ones.

Good evening
Not much to report. I found a yellow jacket nest while mowing, cost me 8 stings and a couple swelled legs. This too shall pass.

Have a great Sunday everyone.
Charlie
Good morning all, Sunday once again, a day of rest so it's said. Good idea. I did go out to dinner yesterday, it's really a drag, 116 and a new record. We had three hikers that thought it was OK to hike in the Arizona sun, one didn't make it and the other two are in critical condition. Why someone would even think of doing this, hiking, jogging or even walking around the block when it's that hot out is beyond comprehension. When I go anyplace, I try to park as close to the front door as possible.

That's all there is from here for now. I'm taking it easy again, still have a headache from the work the dermatologist did. Just guessing, but I think there's about 10 stitches on my head and that's why it hurts. Not at all unusual from being out in the Arizona sun, even on a cool day, the sun is still pounding down. I'm not a hat person, but I may have to change that.

Take care, have fun, but be careful and stay away from anything that looks like a wasp's or a bee's nest. We get mud daubers around here usually high up inside of a porch or patio roof.
Hi all. still here and kind of kicking. stopped today as tomorrow is another full day starting in casa Grandi at 9 then off to Tucson to see the orthopedic surgeon to decide what they can do with the hamstring. Still don't have any zip the phenomena just zapped me.
anyway, stay safe and if possible cool.

Good evening

I had to take Benadryl to help reduce the swellings in my legs  and I was slightly out of it this morning. I did perk up around noon so I scanned some more photos of my friend. I learned a lot about him just from his pictures. We were all ways close, but we were far apart for 40 years and I never met any of his children nor his wife. It is like discovering a part of our friendship that we could have shared but 1500 miles is a great distance to overcome. He only lives 250 miles away and comes to visit 3 or 4 times a year. He is widowed and does as much traveling as he can.  My brother married his cousin so he comes to see them also. I finished the scans around 5PM and will have to crop and enhance them before I make him DVDs.

I have to make a few decals for the NS SD80MACs. I have to change numbers on one of them. I also need to get a coupl cut levers and horns that were missing

I also managed to trap another feral kitten so at 7 am I am off to the neuter clinic.

I have no problem staying out of the sun. I know when to stay cool. One case of heat exhaustion and you learn or die. Time to plant lots of trees in AZ. water the trees and cool the air naturally.

Cheers
Charlie
