Blue I'm checking in.
No train news. Storms yesterday and overnight has caused flooding everywhere. More storms expected today. High of 90. That is hot for us. A/C has been off for several days but will be turned on today. Got a busy weekend coming up. I'm old now and things are not as much fun as they used to be. sigh

Good evening. We had a beautiful day today, It quit raining about 4 AM and was comfortable all day. Spent some time tonight finishing up a couple locomotives. I had bought a BLI Blue Line on Ebay and the seller said it had sound but wouldn't run. Usually a reset will fix this but I found a bad rear drive shaft. It had a hex head on the fly wheel side that was completely rounded so I made a new shaft and it runs great but while working on it I removed the speaker and in order to replace the wires I had to cut the plug off so I cut the wire at the speaker then when I put it together I had forgot to resolder the wires to the speaker so once the wires were connected it runs and sounds like a new unit.

We have to take the furgurl in for another Adequan injection tomorrow. This will be the halfway point. I see some improvement so I am hoping for the best.

I still wonder what has happened to Lutz. I miss his posts, a real treat to see his work.

Well, the week is about shot so lets have a good week end everyone.
Charlie
We had a call yesterday morning that the Michigan cousins had decided to come after all. We set out to meet them under the bridge, but it was raining so hard that we turned back after about 20 miles. They didn't have any trouble, but called us after arriving in Guelph when they found out that the hotel was going to be over C$220 a night. And NO FREE BREAKFAST!  We persuaded them to go anyways and brought them over for an evening at our place. We took them out for breakfast this morning and then drove up to Elora to see the Tooth of Time.  This is a rock formation in the middle of the falls in the Grand River as it enters the gorge.
They left with plans to go to Point Pelee.  There were reports on the news tonight of major flooding in that part of Ontario.

A couple of neighbours came over today to return a book.  (His claim to fame is having acted on stage with Bill Shatner -- about 70 years ago*).  Dayle invited them in to see the trains. They seemed interested but I couldn't get the train on my layout to run. So I ran Dayle's Galloping Goose.  The train started to run all by itself while I was diagnosing the problem.

* No, we don't bring that up when we see him.
Good morning all, how is everything going for y'all? For here, no change here to speak of, temps heading back up to 114 by Monday, rain change forecast is either 0% or 1% and officially we've gotten 0.06" since March 15. Not the best summer.

Just a few pennies drop in gas prices, Costco and Sam's down to $4.22, the Fry's station near me is $4.25, so it doesn't pay to drive to Costco to fill up right now.

Need to go to the auto shop, had a slow leak in my left front tire, about a pound a week, but just picked up a nail (I can see it) in my left rear. I need a oil change anyway so that's where my morning is going. My cleaning lady will be here as well, but she's been doing my house for close to four years now, so I really don't need to be here.

Stopped by the body shop to see what's going on with that missing door trim on my truck. They started working on it on the first of December, returned it in January, minus the door part. They told me that they keep getting the wrong part when they find it, otherwise it's still on backorder with Honda. The truck runs fine, I just think the door looks wonky with the wrong part and color on it. They've already been paid by the insurance company so there's no incentive to finish the job other than to get me off their backs...

Another weekend is upon us, I hope everyone has a good one, play safe, rest and relaxation is also key...
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 70 this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Should be the last of the hot humid weather today. High near 90 then cooling off overnight with a high only near 80 tomorrow. That will conclude my second week of running the a/c this summer.

Fairly routine day yesterday. I finally gave up trying to get grass to grow in an area disrupted by the company installing fiber optic cables in the area. I've seeded and watered the area twice and my neighbor put grass seed down as well. Nothing will grow there. I know the seed works as I've used it in other areas of the yard. No major pans for the remainder of the day.

Gas down another 3 cents to $3.52.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning.
We had another MOAS (Mother of all storms) come through at 01:30 and have been without power since.  Over 50,000folks without power. I am on the backup generator.  I will shut it down as soon as the I am sure the freezers and fridge are cold. They haven't been opened so they should be good for 8 hours without power. I will pump up the well before I shut it down. That gives us 25 gallon reserve and that goes a long way if we are careful.

We have to take Bonnie to the vet this afternoon so that shoots the day

       Have a good week end.

Charlie
Hello Blue.
67/80 for today. Humid, about 110%.
Another big storm last night. The good lord protected us as lots of wind damage and flooded streets. Freeways into Detroit are flooded in many places and closed. Lot of people will be late to work this morning.

Good afternoon folks

It is currently 80 going up to 82. We had a big storm roll through about 7:30 AM. Since then the humidity has gone through the roof. We might have another storm later today or this evening.

Not much to report on the home front. I had to do an emergency heavy duty cleaning of the washing machine. The two loads came out smelling like dirty water for some reason. While I was at I also cleaned the dishwasher.

I have been making progress gluing down the roadbed and track. However last night I screwed up. I tacked down a section of track without installing the feeder rail joiners. I had them laying there along the track and I just forgot. I realized it this morning. Hopefully I can add them without pulling up the entire half of a curve.

There will be no modeling this weekend. My wife and I are headed down to Rehoboth Beach for the weekend once I get home from work this afternoon.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

62 and clear outside my window this morning. Headed for a balmy 80 degrees. The heat wave is finally over for now.

Fairly quiet day yesterday. I went to the gym in the afternoon and as I finished swimming the pool supervisor was locking the doors. I didn't realize the pool closed at 2. Oops. Football starts for the great-grandkids with a double header starting at 11:15. Looks like about an hour and a half drive.

Fortunately the gas price is continuing to drop. Down to $3.49 yesterday when I was out.

Tom - enjoy your weekend away.

All stay safe.

Tom
Ha, Saturday again, good morning to ya all and hope you got to sleep in a bit longer, just like I did. Temps back up over 110, I think this is the 44th day of 110 or higher. TV lady says it could hit 115 in the next few days. Too many records broken this summer, we will go down as the driest summer on record, the monsoon season ends on September 15 and so far we've gotten 0.06" of rain at the airport, less than 3" for the year. Some places in California got that much in a few hours from Hillery....

Little change in gas prices, some places gone down a few cents, others up a few. We're still paying around a dollar more than Tom and other areas. Talked to a friend in Oregon yesterday, says he's paying $4.69 up there.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, especially tompm, it sounds like he needs the break, we all do, so be good and be careful....
Good morning.
A sad day for me, our fur baby Bonnie had a stroke and no longer could walk. We had to let her go. We had her 11 years. She was rescued as a breeder return and was in great health right up until the last 3 months.

It is a pleasant day otherwise. I don't have any words left.

So, so sorry to hear this Charlie, I know you had great hopes and you did your best. Condolences.
Hello all!!!!  The Atlantic Hurricane season is underway.  We're up here on the East coast watching them all turn out to sea.... so far....  Popcornbeer

Hoping it stays that way!!

No train running all Summer long.  It's going to be Open House season soon (In November) so I'll maybe begin tune-up and running sessions in September or October  Smile
We went to the Gathering of the Bands in Kincardine. The weather report in the paper showed wetness al over this end of the province. We drove through some showers - had the wipers on all of the settings at some point -- but nothing happened at our destination.
We heard the local concert band and the the Toronto Big Band. Also had two hot dogs and a big cob of corn (could have had as much as i wanted.) The concert was still going on -- the pipe bands just starting -- when we left before 4:00.
Came home to a very unhappy cat. I took him outside in his buggy for a half hour and he seemed to be in a better mood.
(Kincardine is just over 2 hours away on a route with just one major turn.)
