Good morning everyone, really chilly, suppose to get into the 30's for the next few days. Typical, when it snows up north, we can expect low temps here.

Finally got my missing package, I called the shipper, they called FedEx and here it is. It left Phoenix heading to Surprise 12 days ago, but I guess the guy that was hand carrying it couldn't find the Surprise Post Office, and eventually brought it back to Phoenix, where they actually put it on a truck this time.

Thanks Tom for that link. My question is, if they're producing so much ammo, where is it going? Yeah, there are 7 million new gun owners, and there are a bunch of hoarders, but one would think they would at least hear of someone having one of those brands in stock, even for just a few hours... What I'm finding are odd brands imported from England, Mexico, Taiwan and even Tasmania. Icon_rolleyes Nothing American made.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve, be careful out there. I've been invited to lunch with some friends, one of who is a front-line doctor. I'm not sure if that's a smart thing to do right now....
Greetings, gang.

Clear and 22 going to sunny and a positively balmy...23. Not much warm up today.

Got about 4 inches of snow yesterday. Cleaned off my sidewalk and driveway. Later I saw the young lady across the street struggling with a little toy snow blower so I went over and helped her. Then did the other neighbor. I need to go back out this morning and clean the ends of their driveways so they can get to work. They gotta pay my SS.

Also went to the gym and discovered my swim goggles are distorted for some reason. Ordered new ones last night. Started a pot of chili and looked at the movie schedule. Put the chili in the crock pot and walked to the theater(9 blocks). Wonder Woman was ok. Plot was typical but the special effectswere pretty cool. WW's invisible jet even had a brief apppearance.

All stay safe.

Morning. 35 and some clouds. Headed east to pay taxes and light up the inside of the barn with my used florescent shop lights. No hunting as wet and flooded with full moon.  Season is over for me.

Package sitting in Raleigh USPS for days.  Suppose to be delivered Monday.  Still there.  USPS is getting horrible.  Lost a package from REF.  They sent me another one.  Folks all around on Nextdoor complaining about missing packages.  Seems not the local delivery but the distribution center in Raleigh.

Have a good one.
Good morning.
45 with clouds here and rain later this afternoon.
I got one of the 4 Centipedes done yesterday. I glued a brass plate to the inside of the truck bolster that limits the horizontal axle play and acts to transfer the power from one wheel to the next. It does the job as a test run worked perfect.  1/4 inch horizontal play  would translate to 21.75 inches so that is a bit excessive.  Icon_e_biggrin

Have a happy new years eve eve.

Chief, we have a post office in our area that does not do any deliveries nor have any local residents, as a matter of fact it doesn't even have it's own address or zip code yet it remains open.  This is the kind of waste that needs to be stopped. My hometown has just started construction on a new post office to replace the new post office opened in 1970 that replaced the post office that opened in 1900 (which is still in great repair and used as a museum).

I wish they would take a few of those dollars and use it to fix to parking lot in our post office. Not that the surface is bad, just that they've got a huge concrete walking space that if they took some of to expand the parking area, we wouldn't have so many near collisions and traffic jams every time someone tries to back out of a parking space. And yes, we too have a second dinky little post office in a remote spot that doesn't do deliveries and that I don't think too many people know about. They were suppose to close that one about ten years ago.... but....

That is kind of hard to visualize, but then again, I do see what he's saying.... Eek

Good morning all. The last day of 2020 2285_  Not been a good year for a lot of folks, let's hope that 2021 brings hope and happiness to all. I am indeed up very early this morning, just couldn't sleep any more, we've all been there and it does make the day a bit draggy. Fortunately, I have no plans to go out to any New Years Eve parties, not even dinner and a movie like we used to do. Things change, and this year had some major ones for sure. I should be back in bed long before midnight, I'm sure some neighbor will wake me up about then shooting off fireworks. Why? Because they can and they are inconsiderate as well...

Another cold day in store, might not get into the 60's, some chance of rain next week though, again, 2020 has not been good here weather-wise. Really hot summer, and a lack of rain to the point that I've lost some cactus plants. I just watered them a bit too late. I'll just leave them there in defiance of the HOA. I went to a friends house for lunch back in my old neighborhood yesterday, and they were having a discussion  there about their HOA management, the same group that manages my neighborhood. Don't know if they keep a percentage of the fines, but you have to wonder when four little (and I mean little) weeds cost me $75. Their complaints were similar.

Please, you all take care and stay safe, my son and I have a few errands to run and we're going to get them done so we're back home early.
Greetings, gang.

21 headed for 25 with some fog scheduled for mid morning.

Had a decent workout at the gym yesterday. Tried getting in touch with the insurance specialist at my son's place of employment. She may be taking the holidays off. Spent last evening on the phone. Talked with my granddaughter who will be getting the bulk of my son's estate per his conversation with me back in January. Then spent an hour on the phone with a friend from Minnesota. After that were a few phone calls with my daughter in South Dakota making arrangements for this weekend. I'll be leaving here tomorrow for a hockey tournament in Sioux Falls, SD over the weekend. Be back on Sunday.

This morning will be a trip to the gym. Also need a few supplies for the trip and I'll gas up the car for tomorrow's journey.

You'll have to see the movie to really appreciate the multiple word plays involved in the "appearance."

All stay safe.

Twins are on the way to their Mom.  Wifey and Sister are taking them back to Raleigh PD office.  Excuse to go shopping as I was suppose to take them.  Icon_rolleyes  56 and was raining.  Now just messy.

Twins ran trains today.  Instead of running both trains on the main lines, we did switching moves at the grain elevator.  One twin did all the moves as I instructed.  The other twin was the switchman.  Moved cars from the filled car siding and replaced them with the empty cars.  Then moved full ones to the main siding.  Then the other twin reversed the whole thing.  They thought that was fun.

USPS.  Icon_mad   Package has been sitting at the Raleigh distribution center [they call it factory undefined] since Monday. Was supposed to be delivered Monday. Talked to Rolesville Postmaster yesterday. She is really nice. Seems package has moved and should be delivered today. Her comment. "They are short staffed in the Raleigh facility." HUMM

Not much on agenda.
Good evening folks

It is 39 now and dark and deary. Basically, it is a crappy day. I think the appropriate end to this crappy year.

I had to fight with my dental and vision insurance payment website yesterday. I could not to get to load. Finally, about 2 AM it loaded, and I was able to pay my premium. My retirement benefits cover my health plan and prescription plan. I have to purchase dental and vision, but I get a discount through the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees. The plans are actually better than what I had as an employee.

I had an up and down night with my knee again. I would fall asleep and then wake up a half hour later. That was why I was up at 2 AM to check on the payment website. I finally fell into a deep sleep around 6 AM. The wife let me sleep until noon thankfully. I think because she slept late. I believe my tossing and turning may have kept her up too.

I weathered three cabooses. I sealed 6 Athearn LNE hoppers in preparation for weathering.

As the pile on the workbench goes down, soon I will concentrate on the layout redo. To that end I am going to make the jump to DCC. Since I know next to nothing about DCC I posted a beginner’s question thread.

Speaking of packages, I have them stuck in Cincinnati for 13 days, arrive in Philly yesterday. I had one stuck in Albany for 18 days and arrived in Philly 5 days ago. I have two other packages that have been in Philly between 3 and 7 days. The best one is the one from Connecticut. It went to the local post office for a week, then to an unknow place in Connecticut for a few days. After that it went to Bellmawr, NJ for 3 days. Then it was transferred to Jacksonville, FL where it has been sitting for the last 8 days. All of these packages are two to four weeks overdue.

Have to get ready for our usual family New Year’s Eve celebration. Our guest list for the last twenty plus years has not changed. It is the kids, my wife, and myself.

Happy New Year.
Our new PVR (TV converter plus) arrived this morning -- it was sent out yesterday morning. I spent the rest of the day setting it up. Wiring was easy -- I reused the connectors from before. Then I had to go through 999 channels to hide the ones that we don't pay for or that we don't want to see. Amazing that there are 8 channels in a row show the same ****ball game. There is still a problem -- the guide listing for Sunday and Monday says "No Information" for all channels. The cable company offered to send out a tech, but we resisted and I'll see how it is next week. There is information from Tuesday on.
A suggestion following from Tom's post on his son.
Have your trusted heir on your bank cards and such. This lets them do things for you if you end up in hospital or other care. It may also ease some of the estate situation (see your lawyer). It's more important if you are living alone.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!!!
Good morning all, and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone, let's hope and pray that 2021 is the year we eradicate this virus, that things get back to normal, everyone that wants or needs to work have jobs, the economy gets out of the tank and most of all, the government is able to use restraint when trying to "help" us....

David, what you said is why we stopped at the bank yesterday. They required a lot of info that we need to complete before we go back, let's just say that they aren't making the process easy. But you're right, it is important to get this done for the very reason you cite, and it's something that can't be done quickly. well, at my bank anyway. Waiting

Right at midnight last night, a bunch of neighbors decided that I wanted to celebrate the new year in and shot off fireworks for about a half-hour. That had to include my adjacent neighbors since they were loud enough to keep me awake. That's OK, I fooled them by sleeping in an extra hour. Icon_lol

Take care, have a good day, a good weekend, and above all, a great new year.
