Greetings, gang.

33 now and maybe 39 later on. The NWS has threatened to blind us all by allowing a peek at the sun later today. Got about a half inch of rain yesterday but fortunately it has dried off enough that the lower temperatures tonight won't cause icing problems.

Headed for the gym this morning and that's about the only activity penciled in so far.

Don - I saw that very thing happen on my way home last week. Stopped for dinner at a Texas Roadhouse. Saw one of the wait staff (stupid name but whatever) carry out 4 plates stacked on one arm and carrying other in his other hand.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning, folks

Another day in the freezer. Temperature was 27 when I arrived at the job site this morning. Going up to 39. Tomorrow the weatherman is throwing everything at us including the kitchen sink. We have snow, sleet, freezing rain, and then just plain heavy rain. I don’t mind the snow and sleet. It the driving in freezing rain that bothers me.

Did a few more Christmas decorations last night. I still need to finish the last couple ones for outside.

Apparently over the remainder of the week our house is going to be inundated with packages arriving. The social organization my son helped found has its holiday giving drive going on. He ordered a ton of toys and stuff off Amazon from the donations they collected, and it starts arriving this morning. The program helps families with gifts such as toys and clothing. They also help with holiday meals.

No trains last night.

Today I need to drop my computer to get fixed. It needs to have a fan replaced. After that it will be Christmas decorations and then maybe some trains.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Good chilly morning, yesterday I left for breakfast about 5:40 and there was an abundance of ice on the windshield. Today could be the same, mid 30's now, 56 this afternoon. Gotta be snowing up north for sure. Need to find my skis, probably in the basement... oh yeah, I don't have a basement, have never had a basement nor a pair of skis.... Had galoshes when I was a kid and a sled too, but the snow pack in Phoenix is still zero according to the NWS so none of these things matter since I have no intention of going up to the high country.

Tom, I talked to the waitress at Denny's, she said she remembers when they used to do that, but trays are the thing now days. In a few years you can expect your food to be delivered by robot or drone.... A while back I had dinner at Pat's house. They passed a cell phone around and each person put in their order, paid by credit card. We went to Freddies about fifteen minutes later and Pat picked our order off the shelf. No human contact whatsoever... The sign of the times....

Everyone, take care, I hear there's some devastating weather rolling through the country right now. If it's freezing in the US, I can only imagine what you guys up in Canada are going through.
Good morning, folks

It is 32 heading up to 42. We have the whole grab bag today. Snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Thus far we have had freezing rain, sleet, and some snow flurries.

Almost finished the outside Christmas decorations. I have a couple of lighted reindeer to put out. This year are late finishing decorating, and we did not put up half the decorations. I guess taking the cruise had something to do with it but also both my wife and I coming down with COVID did too. My daughter put up and decorated the tree while we were away. Perhaps we are just passing the tradition on to our kids to do the decorating.

No trains. I got my computer fixed. The fans had been making loud grinding noises for the last few months. I had the fans replaced yesterday and now I barely know the laptop is on.

Since I finally tested negative for COVID I can begin cleaning up and sanitizing where I have been dwelling within the house the past week. I am still on the couch until my wife tests negative.

Don in some ways I don’t mind the new way take out food operates. The other night we knew there was not enough time to cook dinner before my daughter had to go to volleyball practice and my son to a council meeting. We ordered with an app on the phone and paid for it. My daughter picked it up on her way home from work.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Don, that about sums it up. We have a Ring Door Bell with a camera so I get alert on my phone when a delivery person arrives. When I get an alert I text my son to let him know. He is working at home so he can run down and get the packages. With the heavy rain today that feature has come in very handy to keep stuff from getting wet.
Good morning everyone, unbelievable, but it's Friday already, 10 days until Santa squeezes down the chimney. I like Tim Allan's approach on how that happens. It's a pity that they didn't release Santa Clause 4 to the general public. I don't stream, I get over 200 channels in the first place, plus a bunch more with an OTA antenna, why do I need to subscribe to Disney just to see one movie? I'll just wait, next year it'll be on DVD.

Temps right now around 45, it could get up to 60. Seems like a few snowbirds brought their weather with them. I still see folks (men and women) walking around in shorts. Sheesh... It's harsh everywhere right now.

Not sure if my truck will be ready before Christmas. they call me a few times a week and let me know what stage it's in, a really nice thing to keep the customer up to date.

I have some plumbing issues I've been putting off for months, nay, years, I just bought the replacement parts months ago. I need to replace all the bathroom drains, we got one done almost a year ago, so only three more to go.... I may try one today, it's not that hard, it's just getting into the mindset to do it.

Have a good day, stay warm and stay safe, it's rough out there this time of the year, especially with the bad weather right now...
Greetings, gang.

Still a lot of snow/blowing snow around here. 19 now maybe 25 later with continued windy/snowy conditions.

This county along with a fair sized portion of central Iowa is in a no towing area due to weather conditions. The Christmas concert scheduled for last night has been postponed to next Wed. afternoon. As of about 10:30 last night about the western 3/4 of South Dakota was still completely shutdown along with all of North Dakota and the western1/3 of Nebraska. Hopefully with daylight approaching conditions will improve.

Gas price still around $2.75. I'm sure it will increase again the day before I need to fill my tank.

All stay safe.

Tom
Greetings, gang.

It's 18 degrees now and only going to 19 for the remainder of the day so not a big warmup. Temperatures well below zero in the upcoming week.

It's a ridiculous 4 AM as I type this. Woke up at 2:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Fortunately not a lot planned for today. A couple of basketball games this morning. Some time in between games so the great-grandkids will be here for a while. I will need to run to the grocery store shortly after it opens to get some vegetable oil to make up a cake mix for a snack while the kids are here. Only other plan for today is the usual Saturday laundry.

Someone over on the MR forums found a video about a guy who had w-a-a-a-y too much time on his hands:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCEZvondDRM

Gas price was down to $2.69. I have a half a tank but may go ahead and fill it before the holiday spike.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning!

That YouTube video was awesome, Tom! An electromechanical marvel. Awesome to see so much stuff crammed into such a small space that doubles as furniture...

Nice day this morning, maybe low 40's with sunshine. My son is itching to try his new irons, so I think we're headed out to the golf course. My son from Texas is somewhere between Nashville and here, should be here this evening with the bride and his two dogs. My wife's concerned about how the dogs are going to get along with ours.

Got a bunch of things to "wrap up" for Christmas. I can already tell access to Mud Run is going to be limited for a while. Hey, it's the holidays.. Gotta enjoy the family while you have them. Before I know it, everyone will be headed back home and I'll wonder where the time went.
Good morning everyone, ahh, Saturday, suppose to be an easy day. Did sleep in a bit, but I worked on the plumbing and for an old fart, I did well. Change out one drain, two to go. It would have been a lot easier if the original plumber hadn't used epoxy to set the drain in place. It did not stick to the drain, but I had to grind it off the sink before the new seal would fit in place. The first one wasn't like that, apparently there were two guys working in the initial install. I might try one more today, I hope the guy that used putty did that one.

There is a freeze warning in affect this morning, so far this week there have been two days where I had ice on the windshield. Lucky, I'm not going out until they post the mail to the boxes at the Post Office. I may just wait until they close the counter, the parking lot is small and it's chaos.

Gas here is still way over $3.00, the lowest is Sam's Club at $3.28. The highest is up in Black Canyon City at $5.09, one of those, "we're the only one here, so if you need gas, you need us".

Tom, that's insane, "TrainNut" had made a couple of tables with Z scale running inside them. Don't know if he still does any of that, I think the ones he had were for sale, that was back around 15 years ago.

Y'all have a good day, I hope you're not in any of the storm areas. Regardless, stay warm and stay safe.
Good Saturday morning.
I have one honey do chore and that is to make home made noodles for her dinner party tomorrow. The Kids think I am the only one that can do it. With my wife's mixer and dough hook it is a very simple chore so lots of time for the train room.
Tom (the Fiat guy) have you ever tried a soda pop cake? they are so easy and great tasting. The possibilities are endless too. https://tasty.co/recipe/2-ingredient-soda-pop-cakes
I like devils food made with root beer. My daughter likes vanilla with cream soda. Anything seems to work.
I had my grandson (in law) come in this week and spread the limestone on my driveway. He brought his dad along to do the work and absolutely refused payment. A very nice gesture but it upsets me because I really can't do anything to pay him back so his kids will get a real something special for the holiday.
It is cold and dreary here and though I heard the weather forecast I haven't a clue what it is going to do today or in the days to come. I guess if I look out and see rain, it probably means it is raining, snow means it is snowing, or better yet stay inside and don't look out  Icon_e_biggrin
        Stay safe and healthy

        Charlie
Greetings, gang.

2 headed for 16. Not gonna see temperatures above freezing for the foreseeable future according tom my good buddies at the NWS. Chances for snow Monday and Wednesday.

I goofed yesterday. I thought the basketball games were here in town. After re-reading the text from my granddaughter I realized the games are 20 minutes away instead of 9 blocks away so the visit between games didn't happen.

Don - thanks for the tip on the cake. Looks interesting. I wonder who thought that up originally.

Gas was down again to $2.65.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good Sunday morning, one week until Christmas. I'm all set, just not sure if everyone else is. Pat (Duffy) is back in the hospital, been there since late Friday. They're suppose to remove another kidney stone this morning. A prayer for a successful procedure would be appreciated.

Temps just around 60 for a while, could rain this morning, pick a number as to the chance, no two forecasts are even close. Gas prices are holding steady, prices in Casa Grande, about 20 miles south off I-10 is around a dollar cheaper than here. It's almost like the oil companies are punishing us for being lowest a few years ago.

I got one more sink drain changed yesterday, one more to go. Maybe today, I'm getting a bit out of sorts with football, I just don't like to see grown men, millionaires to be sure, dancing and jiggling when the actually do what they're getting paid to do. I did watch part of the Minnesota game yesterday, they were getting stomped pretty bad, 0-33 at the half, 14-36 going into the fourth quarter, and won in overtime. Suppose to be the greatest comeback in NFL history.

That's it for now, enjoy the day...
I just re-read the posts. Sorry about that, Charlie.
