Happy 90th Don!
Yes indeed. Happy 90th.
Happy 90th Don.

Many years ago, we went to the Eisteddfod in llangollen, Wales. (a song and dance festival). The tea room on the road in closed, IIRC, at 4:00 just as the festival let out.

Kinda a different Easter for me though, a rare occurrence that Easter falls on my b'day, but today I hit the big 9-0..... I have to agree with a friend that said if he knew he'd live this long he'd have taken better care of himself. Too many aches and pains, I had to compile a list of my doctors, who does what, too many to remember and it does include a couple of pain specialists.

It's raining out right now, temps were in the high 80's the past few days, today it's not going past the mid 60's.

I hope everyone has a delightful Easter, for me, I'm going over to Pat's house for dinner. Can't afford to make Easter eggs, and not suppose to eat any chocolate bunnies, so that's how my day will go. I did buy some jelly beans though, we just won't tell any of my doctors.

and still seeing green when you look down. Smile

Happy April Fool's Day, gang.

40 and cloudy with some rain approaching.

Pretty quiet weekend around here. I did manage a 3 mile walk yesterday afternoon. Hopefully the kids will be back in school and it will be safe to go to the gym today. I really need to atone for the food sins of the weekend.

Happy belated birthday to Don. I feel like I'm gaining on him. I put that park bench together Friday and was still feeling the aches and pains yesterday. I guess I don't bounce back as fast as I used to.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning folks

It is 47 and heading up to 52. And it is raining. That will be the story for the next three days including today. An inch of rain today, and inch of rain tomorrow, and another inch on Wednesday. By the time the rain is done the project site will be a muddy mess.

Unfortunately for me the weekend was dominated by hernia pain. The mornings and afternoons were not bad. The evening, however, was the opposite. The pain would come in waves and at times it got very close to 10. On a few occasions I thought about calling the surgeon and request moving the surgery up on the calendar. I can’t tell you what triggered the pain. I was under close supervision from my wife and daughter and was constantly reprimanded even if I looked at something slightly heavy. We did get out to PetSmart, the post office, and the grocery store.

Easter was nice and quiet. My contribution to dinner was directing my daughter on how to do the dishes I usually make such as the ham and yam casserole. I was allowed to make the casserole but not to carry it to the oven.

My modeling was impacted by the pain. I did receive some items I need for the bridge area. I tested the tunnel portal and determined what needed to be trimmed off. I figured out what I need to complete the base of the roadway and bridges. I also figured I need at least one set of stairs from the sidewalk to the top of cutout section. Therefore, it was back to eBay and Trainworld to order the needed supplies. Since sitting was my main attribute I did work on entering some boxcars into my inventory program.

Today’s plans are to minimize pain and keep dry at work. Not sure what at home waits for me or how much I will be allowed to do. There is laundry that needs to be brought up out of the basement and some that needs to be brought down. If I stand I have some little things I can do around the bridge area.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Hello Blue
Sun and 40s for the day, some rain coming this evening.
We spent a quiet Easter at home, we brought leftovers from sons Saturday meal so there was plenty to eat.
Today is my deceased sister's birthday, she sure took a lot of kidding over the years.

Hello Tom,

I am concerned to hear of the waves of pain close to 10.
Have you confirmed it's a hernia, with a medical professional?
Is this in your lower right quadrant?
It could be appendicitis. Very bad.
Which I had, with an abcess forming.  I had waves of pain at scale of 10, my body was quaking in pain.
I was hospitalized a week for the abcess, followed by a month of antibiotics.  Then the surgery & another 4 days in the hospital.

I also have had a hernia repair.  No waves of pain at scale 10, more of an aching pain.  Over a period of several months, was able to push the bulge back in.

Of course, everybody's experience is different.

Hoping it all works out for you.

Thanks for the concern.

When I first noticed some swelling and had some pain I thought it might be something with my bladder or urinary tract. I went to see my urologist to see if it was any of those or a side effect from the overactive bladder medication. He took one look at in after I explained what was going on and said hernia, here call this surgeon. I saw the surgeon two weeks ago and I am scheduled for surgery on the 18th.
Good morning everyone, thanks much for the well wishes, getting old is not an easy task and I'm glad that y'all have that ahead of you and not dealing with it now.

It rained yesterday morning and then early this morning again giving us a good inch of rain in our neighborhood and even more across parts of the valley. This is good since we really had a dry 2023. We also have a good snowpack, meaning we may get some flooding come the spring thaw.

I filled up at a station close to my house at $3.59 Friday, by Saturday it was up to $3.79. The highest I see is up I-17 in New River at $4.79. II followed I-10 into California and found a station in Chiricaro Summit at $6.29, another good reason I don't got to California anymore.

Tom, sorry about you medical issues, let's hope they can deal with them quickly.

That's it for now, have a great day and stay safe.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 35 with a passing shower. Supposed to get to the upper 40s later on. It was damp and drizzly here all weekend but no significant accumulation.

No major activities over the weekend for me. Biggest adventure was a 3 mile walk. I even skipped the gym yesterday. The next round of activities starts Thursday when soccer starts for the great-grandkids. Lots of games scheduled for the next month.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning good people, not much going on around here now that Spring Training is past us. Traffic is improving and will get better in a month or so when the snowbirds start flying home.

It rained yesterday morning and a light rain in the evening. All in all, we've gotten well over an inch the past few days.

That's it, nothing huge going on today so I might have time to do some layout work, I'm just stuck at laying track, once I get past that mental block, I have lots of things I can do on it.

I hope everyone is doing well and those that are not, have a speedy recovery. Take care and enjoy the day...
Good Afternoon, all!  A bit rainy in Memphis. MLGW is doing it's best to keep our lights on! Big Grin
