Greetings, gang.

Clear and 42. Headed for sunny and 71 with only light breezes. Looks to be a very nice day.

Yesterday was emotionally exhausting for me as I bid farewell to an old and reliable friend. My cordless screwdriver died after over 20 years of faithful service. It helped me build the benchwork for the Adobe Flats Municipal Railway. Not much planned for today other than a bike ride. This evening I plan to go to the next town to the east for a play at the local community theater. It's supposed to be about 5 vampires that get bit by a human. Could be a fun evening.

I did get a shock in the mail the other day. My insurance on the house went up 50%.

Looks like I jumped unnecessarily when I filled the gas tank. Price was down to $3.08 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Good morning all. Took a few days off, I had a sinus infection that they needed to open my sinuses to clear them up. I didn't say much because I thought it was an easy procedure in the doctor's office. I guess it was, just that they never tell you about what happens when you go home. Let's just say, if I lose anymore blood, I'm going to need a transfusion. Anyway, things are getting better, but I'm still going to spend the most part of today in bed like I did most of this week.

That's the long and short of it, gas is still trickling down. Locally, Sam's leading the pack at $3.98, a lot at $4.45. Travel up I-17 to New River and pay $5.09, then to Cordes Junction and it's $3.99. Make no sense.

Temps are outrageous, 104 yesterday, a few more days around 100+, then quickly into the 80's.

That's it, anyone needs anything, Mikey's here and so are the mods. Me, I think bed rest and some old TV reruns go together quite well.

Take care, and enjoy the weekend...
Good afternoon
It is good to hear from you Don. I am sorry you have had a rough time and I hope by now you have had some rest. I always heard chocolate was a great blood builder.
I called to terminate my Comcast cable and of course they had lots of deals to offer me. The girl agent was very nice and very friendly. I won't have an early termination fee and I actually will get a refund for several days of service. When I was "offered" the deals (I did not want to hear them)  I told the young lady the problem was the price and I mentioned the deals that were only available when you called to quit. She was in full agreement with me.

So far the new service is just as good as ever but 36 dollars a month cheaper and a few less wires running about. We can actually see the cell tower it comes from so I can't say how everyone else would do.

I hope to do some train work tonight. Last night was not a good one for me so I took some Tylenol and went to bed at 8:30.

I don't see gas prices continuing downward for much longer, I am concerned that the oil producers in the mid east may raise prices again.

I wish everyone a good weekend
Charlie
Greetings, gang.

Clear and 48 going to windy (30 mph) and the mid 60s.

Beautiful day yesterday so I spent a lot of time outside. Not much planned for today. Laundry this morning and college football this afternoon. Went to see a play last night about a werewolf who got bit by a human. Funny twist with lots of laughs.

Most gas stations at $3.08 but one place trying to raise the price to $3.44.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good evening
Blue hs had a slow day today.

It's a dreary night here in southeast Ohio. It is currently 50 degrees heading for a low of 45 with rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

I spent a couple hours scanning more family photos.  I need to get them on disk and in safe places so they don't get lost.  I have one more tote full of albums

I was hoping the locomotive parts I have ordered would arrive today but now maybe Monday.  Nothing else to report.

Charlie
Greetings, gang.

Clear and 46 after some overnight sprinkles. Going to the mid 70s today and tomorrow and the upper 30s by the weekend. Looks like it's going to turn very cold for the trick or treaters next week.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. Watched the F1 race from Austin and cleaned up yet another batch of leaves. I'll be hauling those away today. Really not much else going on around here.

All stay safe.

Tom
Hello Blue
Just checking in.
Sun at 32 degrees, had first frost this morning. 50s for the day. Higher mid-week then down again.
Was mostly a football Saturday, Sunday the Lions were so bad I turned it off and took a nap.
We get this whole week without a doctor appointment. No train news. Not even the usual reports from York.
S.J.
Hi ll. well just another manic Monday not much going on.
Don hope your recovering this getting old crap in one-word sucks.

Charley if you want to see some huge flash photos get a copy of steam steel and stars by  O. Winston Link  Awesome

everyone stay safe Jim.
Greetings, gang.

One more warm day before the temperature starts to fall. 77 for the high today the dropping to the upper 30s by the weekend. Rain chances 40% to 90% for the next several days.

Yesterday was one of those good news, bad news, good news, bad news, etc. days

While I was adding water to the water bed -

bad news - the hose sprung a leak.

good news, it did not soak the carpet in the hallway.

bad news - it got the wood floor in the spare room rather wet.

good news - the room was right next to the main bath so lots of towels were quickly applied to the floor

bad news - the tv in there got a glancing blow from the fountain.

good news - the tv was unplugged.

bad news - one of my wife's American Indian dolls got wet.

good news - I don't think it was too badly damaged.

and on and on.

So, maybe not my best day but not my worst day either.

This morning I'm going to Ames (about an hour away) for some shopping not available here. Several stops to make - Menards (yes I know I have one here but as long as I'm there I might as well), shoe store, Walmart (see previous parenthetical comment), bike shop, etc. Besides, the weather is nice and gas is relatively inexpensive at the moment. Down to $3.02 yesterday afternoon.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning.
Tom, quite a day but you did well tolerating it.

15 years ago today I had company at the Kiski JUnction He posed with me for a photo.  I miss those days of my youth. [attachment=41585]

I worked on the passenger car lighting again last night and I did take lots of pictures so when I finish this car I will post about how I did this.

We have friends from Texas coming today. They are bringing their fur kids too so I will get to hug a Sammy for a while

It is a beautiful day. I hope to mow the back yard before company arrives. Nothing else to report. Gas was 3.29 here yesterday.

Tom:
You might contact your insurance company. We had a toilet supply pipe let go and the insurance company covered a lot of the damage. We had water go through the floor (wood strips) and get into the ceiling of the floor below. They went in to make sure that there was no mould-causing water under anything. All the stuff in the bathroom was removed.
(The restorers said that they were paid to take out and replace a bathtub, toilet, etc. but that they didn't have to put back the same ones. We took the opportunity to have new fixtures put in.)
The pipe that broke was not covered; I put in a new one for about $10.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and humid this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 54 now going to the upper 60s later on. Rain off and on tonight through Sunday with some of that rain on the weekend possibly turning to snow. Yuch!.

Had a good day yesterday. My shopping trip was 100% successful as I managed to get everything that was on my list. Not much planned for today. I was going to rake leaves but more rain last night left the leaves too soggy to clean up. With the extended forecast it looks like I won't be cleaning leaves for several days.

David - thanks for the tip.

Walmart/Murphy Oil had gas at $2.99 yesterday afternoon.

All stay safe.

Tom
Hello Blue
Cloudy and 63. Some rain expected today.
The laptop froze as I was posting, so I lost it.
I'll just go with gas was $3.39 every place we drove past yesterday.

Good morning folks

It is a chilly 56 while we wait for the sun to pop up over the horizon. High today will be 77.

The wife and I had a good relaxing cruise vacation. We got to visit Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. It was something we both needed. Our biggest issue was when American Airlines lost my wife’s wheelchair at Philadelphia International Airport. They did find it after we got a couple of supervisors involved. It still took them about a hour to get it back to us.

We have basically been unpacking and getting back into our routine. We were finally able to get my wife her monjaro after looking for it for the better part of a month. There is a nation wide shortage due to unscrupulous doctors prescribing it for weight loss, thus making difficult for people with diabetes to get the medication which is only authorized for diabetes patients.

I did try starting to speed match some locomotives, but I did not get too far.

This afternoon I have to go to the hospital to get an injection in my hip to hopefully ease the pain I have been experiencing.

This weekend we have some running to do to the grocery store, produce store, and to Kohl’s for an Amazon return. There is a suitcase full of dirty laundry to deal with. I may begin bringing in some of the outdoor stuff in preparation for winter. The issue there is the garage needs cleaning out and organizing.

I would like to get some locomotives speed matched so I can run a long trailer train. After that I have to decide what to work on next. I may start a new building for the city or layout some streets or do some ballasting.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

41 outside my window this morning going to 39 later on. Wind from the north at up to 25 mph. Not gonna be a pleasant day. Possibly some snow for tomorrow night.

Biggest project here was building a small shelf in the basement. The city is putting in a fiber optic network which I plan to sign up for as soon as it's available. I went downtown the other day to see what the equipment that will be inside my house. A few pieces of scrap wood and some paint later and I'm all ready. I'll just need one cable to run from the basement to my wifi and I'll be in business. Said cable should be here Monday.

Not much else going on. Gas price dropped another couple of pennies to $2.97.

All stay safe.

Tom
