44 and cloudy right now.  Sun in and out.  Suppose to be sunny this afternoon.  UPS store to drop off packages.  Then back shots this afternoon.  No Train Box work for a few days due to restrictions.

Vaccine shortage causes Durham NC to postpone mass vaccination site.

Hope all stay warm and healthy.
Good morning everyone, we are into those days that attract hoards of visitors.Well, normally it would, but like everywhere else, folks don't want to do much traveling so we get to enjoy the weather without it getting too crowded. Some are debating, do we give the winter visitors a chance at getting a vaccine shot, or do we tell them to go get it back where they came from? Sounds a bit callous, fortunately, not too many people think that way and so they are also given the opportunity to search the extremely confusing Maricopa County website to find those elusive and scarce appointments.

Gas here up and down a few pennies, but still around $2.45 at independents and as much as 20 cents higher at brand name stations. Going to fill up at Costco which is still holding at $2.19.
Good morning folks

It is a bright and sunny 27 heading to 34. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory. I think they are saying we could get 1 to 3 inches. There is snow in the forecast through Sunday and then on next Tuesday.

I got the new lights installed yesterday over the layout. Took me a little while to figure out how to place them. Then I pondered whether to mount them to the rafters directly or on something else. After some thought I decided to try one on the rafter directly. It worked out nice and installed the other five. Took me about 2 hours to do. I did not do them all at once. I did two then took a break to let my shoulder relax, did 2 more rested, and then the last two. I want to thank Charlie for the recommendation on the lights.

Wife had less pain and slept better. I wish I could say the same for my knee. It took more than a hour for it to calm down and I could find a comfortable position to sleep.

Never made it to PetSmart yesterday. I have to go today. I need to also make a grocery store run.

I hope to bring in a piece of the pink foam and lay it temporarily so I can make sure the track plan fits the dimensions we are going to use.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 7 outside my window this morning. The high for today is predicted to be around 11.

Yesterday turned out much nicer than predicted. Got to 14 yesterday afternoon with lots of sunshine. I was able to go out and get the snow off my son's car. Also did a minor repair on the snow blower. It's 20 years old and starting to fall apart.

Got a call from my daughter this morning inviting me to breakfast. Went to a local burger joint that has really good (greasy) breakfast. After that I went to Walmart for a few things. Still waiting for the lawyer's assistant to call so I cal get the administrator affidavit for my son's estate. If I don't hear anything by the end of the day I will call them in the morning. Otherwise not much planned for today.

Computers are just goofy! My bluetooth quit working on Monday evening, right in the middle of something. Tried all the usual stuff including restart, delete and reinstall, etc. Nothing worked. Fired up the backup mouse and went about my business. This morning as the machine was booting up I noticed the bluetooth icon was back. Yep, back in business. I checked the update history and no new updates were installed before or after. Apparently the bluetooth system just wanted a day off.

All stay safe.

Well, good almost afternoon here in southeast Ohio. I don't know what the exact temperature is because its colder than I want to know about.
I had a friend stop by and gifted me a nice K4 PRR Locomotive. It needs to be painted and I will have to install a decoder. I think it is over 50 years old and still in the box, but tarnished. I don't think it had ever been run. I tested it and it runs swell. I will probably have to remotor it.
Still working a little on the Shodde collection.  I am finding railroads I never heard of so it has been an adventure.  I found this post card photo in the collection. As a former track inspector and speeder car owner I was intrigued.[attachment=35715]

My FRA inspector loved steam but said it was like riding a time bomb.  He would have loved this. We became good friends over the years. I knew him before I went to work at the Kiski and we kept in touch after he retired. He passed away 2 years ago.

Off to the train room. C U later.

Back home from doing transportation needs survey [mainly Hispanic]. Mostly wanted transportation for comidas from Walmart and back home. Hubby has the only running vehicle at work [which is now good, before he was home, no job].

Hispanic GF and I had lunch at near Mexican restaurant. Let her order. [didn't understand anything she said to waitress] Got soft tacos. One with grilled shrimp and two with beef. Onions and etc. on the side. Beans and rice. I had a chili relleno on the side [love them]. Good undefined

50 and cloudy. Turning cooler and rain later today. Rain tomorrow. undefined

Cloroxed my shower. Wait and rinse in a few.

Done for today. [washing clothes to help Wifey at work/play]
Good morning friends, hope all is going well for you all, especially those with snow up to their whatever. For us, the mid to high 70's is above average, then a bit cooler tomorrow with a decent chance of rain through the weekend.  Suppose to go target shooting with my sons Saturday, can't go even if it doesn't rain. Forgot how old I am and tried to get rid of some weeds in the backyard. Easy enough, just that the next morning I couldn't move  without a great deal of pain. Saw my chiropractor on Tuesday, see him again this morning. Getting around with a walker and a cane for now, just hope it doesn't last 'cause I'm getting tired of watching old old TV reruns. Lots of "Andy Griffith Show" and "Wild Wild West" on, mostly in B/W. Even recorded some, "Colombo", and a new rerun, "Modern Marvels" is back. Lots to watch, just anxious to get to do some real stuff, like working on my layout.

That's it for today, just glad that the HOA weed police aren't allowed to look in your backyard, unless the weeds start growing over the fence.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy with some light snow on the way. 80% chance of an inch or so. Another nuisance snow. Not enough to use the snow blower. -2 right now with a high supposed to be around +2.

I never heard from the lawyer's assistant yesterday so I'll be calling her first thing this morning. I want to get moving on this as there is a car payment due on my son's car. There's enough money in a savings account at the same bank to pay off the load but I can't touch it until I have the administrator affidavit. Not much else planned for today.

All stay safe.

Tom
28 and snow, gotta fire up the snow blower!

An undec GP30 arrived here yesterday, planning to make it Conrail 2233. This is by chance, the same unit at the RR museum of PA, but the photo I found of it during 1979 was a neat one where the word "Conrail" was spelled out instead of a patch, AND its PRR keystones were showing through. Can't go wrong with that.
Just noticed,  gas jumped ten cents overnight. Most stations at $2.55, Costco up five cent to $2.24.
Morning. Goofed off this AM. Wifey and I slept late [animals did too for a change]. BoJ's for biscuits. They have their fish combo back on sale. Lunch maybe. 42 degrees ands now started light rain. Guessers say rain and more rain. Some say we might get a light glaze Friday night into early Sat. Some say not.

Now go to Lowes and see frigs. Buy American brand but made???? SisterIL has had two Frigidaire brand. Old one was still great but she wanted stainless so b ought another one. No problems. Maybe.

Our gas at Sam's Club dropped 15 cents.  Strange.

Hope all stay well and warm.
Good morning all, will it rain this weekend or not? Seems as if they've lowered the expectations to just a few percent chance, down from over 50%. Still, no matter what the forecast, they still can't be wrong. I found a website that has past weather history so I can see now what the temps were for yesterday. To my surprise, they show a range for any given hour and within our city, temps can vary as much as nine degrees at any point in time. Still, my outdoor thermometer is way out of range sometimes. Yesterday's high was 75, my thermometer said 89 and it's in the shade.

Saw the chiropractor yesterday, I'm doing better, but he says it'll be a few weeks before I'm good to go. Still, I'm going to try and work on my layout a bit today, next week is going to be busy. Get my second shot on Wednesday. As of next week, they've lowered the age for getting a shot from 75 to 65 in our county.

Take care and stay safe, and stay off those icy roads, man, 100 car pileup, I thought that only happened in California.....
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and -12 headed for snowy and -1. Yep, not gonna be a pretty day. Could get maybe an inch of snow according to the National Weather Service. That's what they said yesterday as I used the snow blower to remove over 3 inches of fluffy white.

Called the lawyer's office yesterday and was able to get the administrator affidavit. Info sent off to the small bank in eastern Iowa. The large bank here in town wasn't sure who I needed to talk to. Got a call late yesterday afternoon from an out of town branch. She is supposed to get back to me this morning with further information.

On tap for today is a trip to the gym. It's a swimming day but I may skip that and just walk. Late afternoon I need to go to a visitation for the husband of a long time friend. He's been battling a rare form of cancer for 17 years.

Gas price here jumped another dime yesterday. Up to $2.44. Was $2.24 three weeks ago.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning gang. Light rain and 34 degrees by the phone. Some light glaze on surfaces off the ground north of us. Messy day. Suppose to get some glaze here late night into tomorrow AM. Then rain and moves on out.

Been drinking coffee and had a blueberry turnover. News got boring.

Probably install Menards Church in Train Box today.

Hope all have a good day and stay warm.
Good morning friends.
20 degrees here and cloudy. I may try to paint a couple of locomotives later if conditions get just a little better.
other than that maybe do a couple of decoders.  I have 6 more locomotives that are ready for decoders and then there are 2 kits to build. the builds are a couple years down the road.

Does anyone remember the young woman that was modeling Thomas. I believe she was from the UK.  I was interested in that thread but can't find it and I can't remember her name. I thought I would send her a PM to see if I could get her back on board. There have been a few gals on here off and on that are great modelers and their perspective was really interesting, especially the little things they detailed.

Everyone stay safe. It looks like the end of the tunnel is coming and the light isn't a train.
