Morning.  59 and raining.  Cold air from up north overriding wet moisture.  Guessers say rain most of the week.

Just got off of a food security meeting by phone.

Virus cases still climbing in NC.  Bet Gov does nothing today.

Have a good one.
Good afternoon folks

It is 70 heading to 75.

I had a frustrating weekend with the Atheran pickle tank cars. One car is ready for a shot of Dullcoat before I begin weathering it. The other car, everytime I thin it is ready something happens. First it was the trucks. I took some out of another kit and weathered them. Then it was the coupler pockets falling apart. I can't do much about them until I can get to a hobby shop. I thought okay I can still weather the car. No I can't the because the body falls off the base. While trying to fix that the sides fall off the car body. So I finally get everything back together but it is too late to do anything more. I hope to sel it before I begin the weathering.

On the good side, I got some decals in the mail. They are for Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines passenger cars. I also got an unlettered P-54 combine and a PRR P-54 coach in the mail. Now I just have to apply decals. Deciding if I want to remove the lettering on the PRR coach and make it PRSL. I am waiting on some NYO&W decals for diesels and cabooses. I am going to see if I can use them to make a NYO&W steam locomotive. I have a couple unlettered ones on order. I am also thinking about how I can make a PRSL steam locomotive.

I hope everybody has a good day.
hi all . well finished with the railroad craftsman  still missing a lot of the early 40's . found a hen sitting on 10 eggs and another presented us with one chic , the way things go its probably a rooster, o well if so it will be a fryer .

Tom if you want to change one of the pickle cars tichy has decal sets for 5 other brands besides Heinz also if you are going to have a brining plant some where I have drawings for one.  .
Good morning everybody, not much going on this way. A spike in the virus has some on edge, a few restaurants are closing again because of that. I sure hope Brenda's Kitchen is open, we're planning on going there for breakfast.

Got a number of wildfires going right now, a few causing evacuations, we have two that are pushing 40,000 acres, one with zero containment, the other around 30%.

Temps today just about normal, low 100's. One TV channel always seems a lot higher, others show 102, 103, they're saying 106. We are expected to go above 110 next week. Could be 109, possibly 112. Yesterday was the official start of our, "monsoon" season. It used to be that the first day was when the dew point hit 55 five days in a row, now they just pick June 15th and go with that. Either way, this is the time for those, "50% chance of rain" forecasts since a storm can pop up out of nowhere late in the afternoon. One minute, clear skies, the next, a huge dust storm (now called a "haboob") is baring down on you followed by flooding rains. That surely doesn't sound like the dry heat we always talk about. Nope
Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 70 at the moment headed for sunny and 90. Rain chances set up shop tomorrow evening and stay through Sunday.

Yesterday morning went as planned and all errands completed. After I got back from the gym I decided to take a bike ride before it got too hot. Did my first full 16 mile bike ride of the year. Also rode the bike to the gym and later to the grocery store so the grand total was 19 miles yesterday. Got a call from my grandson yesterday afternoon inviting me to a cook out at his place for my older daughter's birthday. Then I got another call from him last night saying that the virus was at his dad's place of work. I will go and drop off a birthday present for her and leave again. The present is my wife's bowling ball. I finally found it after 5 years of searching. It was under the basement stairs.

This morning I was out and about early. There were a few clouds on the horizon so I took my drone to get some sunrise pictures. I got there too late and the sun was already starting over the horizon and washed out the pictures. This morning I'll be getting in a bike ride soon. After that I'll do some more work in the yard, including putting down the rock I got yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom

hi all finished sorting out the extra RMC , going to drop them off at good will shipping is so high that there not worth trying them on e bay. now its down to the 4 drawers of MR's .
Good morning folks, a quiet and cool one here. Protesting is down to where the newscasts barely cover them. As for the "cool", we're looking at 100° +/- for the next few days, then we're up over 110 by this time next week. I see a few far out forecasts with a chance of rain towards the end of the month. That all can change this time of the year.

We now have the largest wildfire in the country, the "Bush" fire in the Tonto National Forest is now pushing 65,000 acres. That's northeast of the Phoenix area.  There are others, many are human caused, a few by lightning. Sometimes shooters will trigger a fire, those are the dumb ones that shoot at targets that can cause a spark, or like Tannerite, that explodes when hit by a high power shot. It doesn't make sense to shoot that kind of stuff around bushes, trees or even cactus, but they do. A few years ago a few stupid guys kept shooting at a very large cactus out in the desert. The cactus got revenge when it fell on the shooters. Us, when we go out our targets are plastic bottles with some water in them to weigh them down, and a few golf balls just to prove we aren't as bad a shotter as we think we are. When we leave, we bring back all our targets and as much brass as we can.
Greetings, gang.

Another sunny day underway outside my window this morning. 71 already with a predicted high near 90. According to our very good friends at the National Weather Service there is a 90% chance of 1-2 inches of rain tomorrow night. We shall see.

Started out on my bike ride yesterday morning and my body said "NO! You are not ding that to me again today!" Rode a few blocks and came home. Worked on re-ballasting the outdoor track. Progress is being made. More work on that this afternoon. This morning will be a trip to the gym for swimming/resistance work.

Don - hooray for the cactus!

All stay safe.

Good morning folks

Been a very long night. My father-in-law passed away just after midnight. Needless to say didn't get much sleep. Will be heading over the funeral home this afternoon. Because of COVID there will be no viewing. We were not planning one anyhow since we are his only family and he basically outlived all his friends. There will be a graveside service with the priest.

He had been declining since the fall. He went into hospice around Christmas. He improved as expected and came off hospice a couple of weeks ago. As it happens with a case like his he started declining again. He went back on hospice on Monday.

He was 86 at the end of March. He was a Marine and a Korean War veteran. He retired in 1999 to be a stay at home grandpop and help raise his grandchildren.

Before everything happened I finished installing the railings on the AS16 that took the plunge off the layout. It is now repaired or at least the best I can do.

I hope everybody has a good day.
County Commissioners want to go to mask requirement. Some Mayors are OK and a lot are no. Mainly the biggest business wise except Raleigh who going to do one on their own. Rolesville Mayor, will not comment. No back bone and whatever the rest say. undefined

Dr. visit. Lost 10 lbs. and PB 106 over 68. Temp 98.1 [which is normal for me].

Picked two tomatoes, some hot peppers and lots of banana peppers. All growing like crazy. Got one squash about ready. Lots of blooms on squash, zucchini and cucumbers. All planted late this year.

Now run some errands.
Greetings, gang.

It's a cloudy 70 degrees in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. The high for today is supposed to be 88 with a 100% chance of 1-2 inches of rain tonight.

I worked on the outdoor track some more yesterday afternoon. Getting close to being finished. Last night I got a call from my daughter. Her husband and son will be in town next weekend. She may or may not be here depending on whether she can get off of work. She will also be getting in touch with friends around here and invite them all for supper Friday evening. I could have as many as 20 people in my yard next weekend. Food will be hot dogs and burgers.

This morning our city is demonstrating is intelligence again. My street is due for replacement later this summer but the city is outside my house right now filling potholes. Seems kind of like a waste of time and money unless my street is not going to be replaced after all.

Today I'll (hopefully) be finishing up the outdoor track repairs. Also need to start some house cleaning before next weekend.

Frank - congrats on the good check up.

Tom - my condolences on your family's loss.

All stay safe.
Good morning everyone. About masks, our governor announced that it's OK for locales to mandate wearing masks. That means that mayors and city councils now have the power. Our mayor here in Surprise called in sick, said he tested positive. No other real changes to how we live, just that there's been a spike in the virus now that we have a bit more freedom.

That fire in Tonto National Forest is now up to 100,000 acres and only 5% contained. There are many more around the state, so far this year they say that we've had over 900 wildfires, up by 50% from last year.

Got just a bit out of joint, I bought something at Home Depot a few days ago, now I'm getting spam email from some person trying to sell me similar things. I looked up something on Google, and now I'm flooded with ads for that item on several different web sites. I just wonder why I'm bombarded at one news site with ads for bikini bathing suits, never, ever, looked them up. I did look for shoes for my wife, I guess that gives them the lead they need, just that I doubt that my ??-year old wife would want to wear a bikini. Nope I have Ad Block, but many sites won't let you in until you disable it. I can see now why Google has a few extra billion in their bank account. I understand that if you get a lot of views on some social sites, that you can become rich too....

And yes Tom, condolences to you and your family...
Hello Blue
Sun and Hi 80's today.
Any time you search for an item online the ads will follow. Nobody knows what we are doing. yea right.
Yesterday was my birthday, with the virus arriving and my old age I wasn't sure if I'd see this one.
