Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 35 in the remote reaches of nothtern Iowa this morning. The high for today is supposed to be on in the upper 30s. Way to early for it to be this cold.

Nothing accomplished yesterday except a phone call to a friend in Nebraska. He had sent me a couple of wood sheathed boxcars he picked up at the train show last weekend. Anything he finds with companies from Iowa he buys for me. I need to add on to my display case to show them all. Round three of massage therapy this morning. After that I need to haul some yard waste to the disposal site. I'll probably head to the gym after that.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning everyone, Friday already, a busy one for me. Just got a few things that has to be done and can't put off. One thing is getting my suite pants adjusted for my new height. Seems like I'm a bit shorter than I was the last time I wore this suite. My son's MIL is stopping by to do that chore. It's been 20 years since I had a suite on, I'm betting that it's back in style.

Sorry you can't make it this year David, I was counting on the revenue from that to buy that new Hummer they're coming out with. Icon_cry I'm not sure about finding another renter though, the annual flocking of the snowbirds has been a bit sparse this year. No bumper-to-bumper parade of 40' motor homes towing a small SUV like other years. Just wondering if this virus thing isn't keeping them home.

Still a chance of rain starting Sunday, can't say for sure, neither can the guessers, some say 0%, others up to 40%. I just thought of a new product to sell to these guys, a weather-guessing dart board. You blindfold the guesser, spin the board and let them do their thing.  Oh wait, I think they already have one of those....... 35
Morning. Mostly sunny and 70 degrees. Warming for a deer hunt but hot hot. Cooler tomorrow with rain tomorrow night late [not much per guessers]. Holding off for my hunt.

Finished voice recording for school board member buddy. I think she will win.

Putting on bagging unit for mowed. Suck up leaves. Shower and head east.

Will be the longest trip I've driven since the gear lash was adjusted on pickup. Bet it will be a pleasure to drive this time.

Have a good one.
Good morning.
I am looking forward to the chat tonight. I sent an email to some members and I hope they too sign up.

I am building a high creeper that I can lay on to do some under table stuff like wiring and switch machines.  I have it almost done. I glued it together as well as nailing so it should hold up to my overweight butt.

I used the mower with the deck raised to blow the leaves off the drive and into the flower beds. We let the leaves protect the flowers over the winter and by spring they are almost composted.

David, I'm looking for pictures of the guy with yogurt in his hair. I don't see any.  Icon_e_biggrin

Expecting new cell phones today, I went to home depot the other day and could not even get enough signal to call them to let them know I was there. I have been using trakfone for 8 years and no problems but I had to get a new phone and it works off a different carrier. My wife has the same issue and after many phone calls and no help I found out all they need to do is send a different sim yet they refused to do so so I will use the phones for dedicated wireless throttles for the layout.

I hope the new service works. The rep guaranteed me they would and I get 2 different sim cards with the phone.

Have a good one everyone.  See some of you tonight.

hi all . been a time since i checked in was at VA doing some testing and they don't have wifi . looking like heat is going back up here the forecast for Monday is 110. by the way gas in Tucson is 1.78 Smile here its 2.29  .
Good afternoon folks

It is now 66 heading toward 71. The fog looks like it has burnt off. Third morning we had heavy fog in the morning.

Getting here late. After breakfast I fell back asleep accidently. Not much happening today. I need to go down to the basement and get the laundry from the dryer.

The high school in the district my wife works in reported their first COVID case. It is a student. They are attempting to do contact tracing. People are nervous. My wife works at the middle school. Since her student is all virtual, my wife is at home and works with him on Zoom.

I put away some the cars I recently weathered. I didn’t get any more weathered. I had a major headache with the Access Database I made for inventorying my trains. It basically crashed. Luckily, I only lost one or two entries. The bad thing is I have to remake it. On the good side I discovered some ways to make it better and more stable.

I am off to PetSmart shortly to pick up cat food and hay for the Guinea pig.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Pretty sunrise going on outside my window this morning but it is a rather chilly 19 degrees at the moment. The high for today is supposed to be in the upper 30s. All in all very cold for this time of year. 2-4 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow. Normal highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and lows in the 40s.

Fairly quiet day yesterday. Fun visit with some of they guys on Zoom last night. Lots of stuff on the to-do list for today. Laundry this morning, college football at 11, and cleaning up more leaves after the game.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning everybody, well, the chances of rain here are "blowing in the wind", says some song by someone. No more 40-60%, more like 0% with a slight chance on Tuesday. I just wonder where all the rain is going if it's not headed here....

Got tired of being harassed by the HOA for weeds, so I now have a modified flame thrower to deal with them. The weeds, not the HOA board Icon_rolleyes ... It's kinda like a blowtorch on steroids attached to a tank of propane. The whole thing was cheaper than a fine from the HOA or a visit from my lawn care guy. Since my entire lawn, front and back is gravel, torching those little suckers  is easy with no peripheral damage. Applause

We had a Zoom chat last night, this time they adhered to the 40 minute limit and shut us down, and I missed letting tompm in before that happened. Maybe if we paid, we'd not only get more time, but with hopes, they might give the host an audible signal that someone is waiting at the door. I'm sorry Tom, my bad, but then again, we were minutes away from getting shut down. If we continue doing this, it might be better if we paid the price, I'll check and let you know if it's worth it.

Don, I have looked at the pricing and there are lower cost alternatives.  I saw one that is only $5 a month, but actually I think we can live with the 40 minute time limit and as Fiat Fan suggests have a second meeting ready for back up.  We could "Pause for a brief intermission" at the 39minute mark allowing us to refill our drinks and do other needed things. Zoom is minimum 149 a year, but I don't see a justification for the benefits that are added. Microsoft has a free one but I have had so much trouble with passwords using microsoft that I am afraid of them.

Keep those weeds under control. If you can't burn them out get a 2.5 gallon bottle of generic roundup at TSC. It makes 250 gallon of spray (mix at 1%). I still have a half gallon left from the jug I got 10 years ago.

I've been looking at Skype, would want to do a test, but they have a 24 hour meeting time limit, and I don't think you need to stand in the doorway and wait for the host to let you in....

As for weed control, which sounds like more fun, spritzing the weeds with a spray and waiting a few days for them to wilt, or blasting them with a stream of a 2000 degree blue flame and watch them evaporate before your eyes as your neighbors look in awe? I feel like Tim the tool man Taylor from the Home Improvement show 2285_ 2285_
Hello Blue
50s today. Yesterday went from a warm 78 down to 55 as the cold front stormed through.
Today I am watching the Buckeyes game. Good to see Big 10 football back but hope no one gets sick
S.J.
HOME!!  Too hot to hunt.  In the 80's.  79 at sunset.  Again next weekend.
Good morning, a cool one at that. This week's high temps look like last month's low ones. A few days in the high 60's, up to the high 80's. Haven't a real clue as to rain. Some guessers have taken it out completely, others give us a small chance tomorrow and Tuesday. I haven't a clue what it's going to do, and I don't think they do either.

I'm going to give Skype a test next week, I think we got a dirty deal from out last Zoom chat. We got cut off ungracefully, and I wasn't aware that tompm was waiting to get it. Skype has a four-hour cutoff, and I think you can let yourself into a meeting. If that's true, I think we need to switch. This week is going to be very busy for me and my family, so we'll wait a bit before we try it.

Have a great week everyone, and if you can, do something about sending the rain our way, we are somewhere around 2-3" so far this year.
Good morning.
A cool one here today so maybe some train room work today.

I like Days suggestion about Skype now that I see we don't have to download the ap. I have a heck of a time with microsoft and passwords. (Not anywhere else).

Fiatfan, here is a link to a file transfer service that will allow you to store 10gb to share for free. https://www.udrop.com/.
I used it several times before but couldn't remember the name during the chat. Now that I am getting 200 mb down and 9mb up it is quite usable. Maybe I can figure a way to share an entire disk of my train pictures with everyone that wants them.

My SIL is coming for a one day visit. We will probably have to get out a couple wool blankets to cover the electric blanket and heating pad so she can sleep comfortably. See is from Sun Lakes, Az.  It will be fun.

        Everyone enjoy the day.

Charlie
Greetings, gang.

It's 30 and snowing outside my window in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. 2-4 inches expected by this time tomorrow. The high for today is supposed to be.... 30. So, not much change.

Watched Nebraska get destroyed (again) by Ohio State. Gave up in the third quarter and raked leaves and hauled them away. This morning I watched a pretty entertaining Formula 1 race. This afternoon I'll watch the Indy car race.

Gas here dropped again. It's down to $1.76 as of yesterday afternoon.

All stay safe.

Tom
