Good morning everyone, Friday already, wow, can't keep up with the time. Harbor Freight has a 25% off coupon for this weekend. Just that, if you get your magnifying glass out, you will see what it can't be used for. There's a list of products by name and a list of all their major brands that are exempt, leaving very little that it covers. No more freebies either. I guess I don't blame them, they've been generous over the years, but the biggest change there is that their new brands are much more expensive than what they were selling before. They were a good source for a low-cost tool that you needed but would use occasionally.

Speaking of raising prices, stopped by the pawn shop yesterday to pick up some ammo. Paid 5 to 10% more than the last time I bought there. Pat bought some ammo on the Internet, he got it, but when he went to reorder, prices had jumped.  One store up in Prescott claims, "wholesale prices to the public" is selling 9MM for as high as $100 for a box of 50. "Government contract" ammo is $80 a box. The government may want to pay that, but I don't, not to just go target shooting with. 9MM ammo use to go for as low as $10 a box less than a year ago. I'm sure things aren't any different in your area....

Take care and have a great weekend.
Greetings, gang.

Another in a string of pleasant late autumn days. Sunny and 45 with light winds today.

Had a decent day yesterday. Got the third toybox almost done. While varnishing I discovered the edge of the lid did not get completely stained so I had to sand that down and re-stain it. I'll finish all the varnish work today. The only thing left to do will be to attach the soft close hinges which are scheduled to arrive on Monday. They're arriving via the Postal Service so that isn't necessarily when they will actually arrive.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning folks

It is 43 with an anticipated high of 49. We are expecting some rain later today.

The wife and I went out last evening around 7:30 to pick up her online order and to drop off an Amazon return. She was surprised how empty the roads and the store were. It has been like this since the initial lockdown in March. Rush hour traffic has returned to almost normal, but it dissipates quickly in the evening. It seems people go to work in the morning and return home in the evening and then stay home. We are the opposite as we are home all day since everyone works from home. The wife suggested that perhaps we do our shopping in the evening rather than during the day or weekends.

I did get to run some trains yesterday. Since I apparently fixed the one issue things ran much smoother.

Today I have to run and pick up something for my wife at her school. I also need to grab a few groceries while I am out.

The modeling debate is to weather hoppers or build Tropicana reefers.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Good morning
Cool but clear here in southeast Ohio.

I will be working with the trains again today. Lots to do so I will pick and choose when I go to the barn.
The new furkid is settling in. He has been getting disciplined by Bonnie, the older furkid. They have been romping in the yard and it is good for Bonnie to be
playing again.

Another weekend coming but they really don't mean much since retirement.  Our burn ban has expired so I may burn some old wood this week end.

About time to schedule another chat Don. We need to give skype a try.

Partly cloudy and 54. Did not freeze last night. Banana tree leaves show that the freeze did hit. About time. Rain tonight but gone tomorrow early.

Not much on agenda. Seems good. Trip north to Louisburg for stuffed sausage for my adopted Daughter. Her family gobbled it all down while she was down there during Thanksgiving. Grab me a fried tenderloin biscuit at Biscuit Station there. UMMMMM May try getting some turnip greens [cooked] at Carley C's there too.

Hope all have a happy and safe day.
Good morning all, Saturday again, tried to sleep in but couldn't for very long. Had to wait for the heat to kick on. I bought an indoor/outdoor thermometer yesterday, and it says that it's a chilly 39 outside. I think I'll wait a while before I go pick up the newspaper. No wonder it was so cold when I woke up. It is now a comfy 82 inside according to my new thermometer. Goldth

Not that much into sports, Arizona teams are mediocre at best, but on a strange note, the 49'rs are going to play their next two home games here in Arizona. The Cardinals are playing away, and the 49'rs can't play in their stadium thanks to the California governor's edicts on Covid-19. Exciting news? Beats me, I wouldn't go see any of them even if they had free tickets and free parking. Speaking of parking, there's a gun show in Phoenix this weekend, the last time I went to one, the cost of parking was more than the cost to get in. I'm not complaining, just saying.....

My friend that has Covid-19 found that he probably got it from his son, who has no symptoms but tested positive for antibodies. His doctor says that this is how a lot of it is spreading, by folks that have no idea they are infected and are a carrier. Just a heads-up on that piece of news, so be careful out there....
Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 19 headed for sunny and 44-ish.

Finished the last toybox yesterday. All three are now awaiting only the arrival of the soft close hinges. According to the USPS the hinges are sitting in a distribution center in the Chicago are but are "on track to be delivered" by Monday at 9 PM. We shall see. Also got all the bills paid for another month and went for a nice walk. Got to almost 50 yesterday.

Not quite as warm today but still very nice weather for this time of year. Laundry this morning and college football at 11. After that I may take the drone down by what's left of the river. Water level is very low due to a continuing drought in the area.

All stay safe.

Good morning.
Tom, those toy chests look wonderful.  They are a lot of work.
I made toy boxes, beds, rocking horses, rocking chairs and many items I can't even remember for my grand kids 30 years ago. Only several items survive owned by my only daughters daughter. I do have video of all of it and they enjoyed them but they for the most part got broken and destroyed over the years.

It's cloudy here and unlikely for any sun to shine today.

I have been trying to get my BLI centipedes to quit stalling. 8 wheel pick up on each locomotive yet they still lose power. the problem is the wipers are not springy enough to maintain contact with the wheels so I am going to have to remove the trucks and devise something that works. The trucks are rigid so the axles have enough slop to slide away from the wipers.

More work on the trains today.

I see METV is going to run cartoons on Saturday morning beginning Jan. 2. I will finally have some educational programs to watch on Saturday morning.  Icon_e_biggrin

.77 inches of rain. Two big pour downs after midnight. Sunny and windy. 53 degrees.

Got call from widow former Co. Comm. Truck still not cranking. She needs a battery. Since I'm not doing anything, will drive across county and see.

Wifey cooked country ham biscuits and grits [with ham gravy].

Have a safe and good day.

Hopefully these will survive for a while.  They are made of 3/4 plywood.  All joints are screwed, glued, and nailed.

Those are some neat Thumbsup toy boxes, great job, lots of work, but worth it I'm sure. Now, whose job is it to fill them with toys?????
Those are great looking chests Tom.  They will also double for foot lockers and (Non)cedar  chests as they get older.

Shi# I deleted twice.
Sun today and 50.
If any of you know of P&D Hobby shop, I received a call yesterday that the owner has passed away. Leukemia.
Too soon to know what will happen to the store. He has 1 son and 2 daughters. Divorced.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 25 headed for 41 today and tomorrow. The middle of the week will see temperatures of 50+ before dropping back down for next weekend.

Thanks for the kind words on the toyboxes. It was fun building them but I'm glad the project is over. Don - it's certainly not me that's going to fill them!

Enjoyed the football game yesterday. Then took the drone down by the river. The water level was higher than on my previous visit. Must be snow melt from Minnesota which has had lot more snow than we have. Tried taking a drone shot of some geese on the river. Found out later I was turning a light on and off on the drone. I did get a rather poor shot of a hot air balloon. My drone was at 200 ft and I just barely caught the balloon at the top of the photo so he was up there a ways.

This morning is a Formula 1 race. After that it's time to start cleaning up the messes in my shop and the garage. I've been a little lax on housekeeping while building the toyboxes.
29 degrees headed for 35 with clouds all day in the suburbs of East Palestine, Ohio.

A friend posted some information about the new Covid vaccination and it changed my thinking entirely. She explained how it is made and how it works and I found it to be very well explained. I hope it works as she says, and I will get the vaccination as soon as it is available.  That's what it will take to put folks at ease somewhat. I will share it on the Blue facebook page and if someone thinks it worthwhile feel free to copy and paste the information and pass it along.

I scanned some more of the photo collection I purchased a while back. I still have over 400 to do, and once done I will share them where you all can check them out.  The fellow that had this collection died in 1938, drowned in Lake Erie on a July 4th outing I am told. I missed out on the pictures he took for the most part and they have not turned up as prints for sale anywhere yet. I am sure there are some goodies in them. I think I will scan some more today. [attachment=35286]
Cheers
